Songs

So my DJ is my Uncle, he said that he would take care of all the music and not to worry about it. So I haven't, we did pick out our first dance song and the unity candle song but that's it, now my BM's are sending me song ideas and honestly I don't want to take the time to find all these CD's or buy them, is that awful to let my uncle do it all?

Is your uncle already a DJ or some sort of music aficionado? If so he might have a lot of the music already. I personally wouldn't think it's a big deal if he downloaded (I assumed most DJ equipment nowadays are connected to a computer) a few songs requests and your first dance/unity candle songs, if he didn't have those already. But I think it's kind of rude to expect him to buy 75 different CDs, or download 75 different singles from iTunes (which average more than 99 cents a song now).

What kind of music does your uncle like? Was he planning on playing modern dance/top 40 music, or oldies, or classic big band music? If he's not a DJ, how does he have access to the right equipment for the wedding? Is he just going to be in charge of an ipod and making sure things are played at the right time and the music continues to flow? I would definitely find these things out before the wedding.

If he's just in charge of an ipod, I'd pay for the downloads myself. I dunno, I know he offered to do you a favor, but I'm not sure he anticipated having to spend money for a customized play list. The expectations of each party should have been discussed before the agreement was made. And in this case I'd pay for the music myself. GL!
  • He has DJ'd before and has approx 900+ CD's, I have not asked him to buy anything. I told him I would be more than happy to supply the CD's and he told me not to worry about it.
