9-14-2012 Bride but have so many ideas need some help...

Hi everyone, So my hunnie and I will be together 10 years this Valentine's Day, but we chose to do 9-14-2012 since Valentine's falls on a Tuesday. I was going to do maybe black and pink as our colors but then we had a thought why not do like a Valtine's day theme use those colors such as red and white or pink or there's so much to choose. We were thinking maybe do a candy bar with the little candy hearts with out date and our little sayings or just red, white, pink in the different candies. Also we want a photo booth any tips are where in the Philly or King of Prussia area on a good rate I've gotten between the 2,000-2,500 range is this good? Also, I am getting ready to do our save the dates and was thinking if we do the Valentine's theme to do a candy heart with either our pic or just the information. Do you guys think its to much or a perfect idea since it means so much to us?? And if its a good idea any ideas on where I can find a candy heart save the date? I've been on vista print but its just 2 hearts and won't let me change to red or pink. Please help as its 7mos now and I'd like to get them out soon. Also I'm also looking into the top of the hill because I love the view but not sure if its just a smaller gathering if we should look else where. I'd love any tips and ideas so please help we have our church/bridal party/guest list done just few major things left. Oh and also anyone know of any cjeaper then 200 bucks for pre cana classes or does that sound about right? Sorry so many questions all at once, we we're supposed to do 11-11-11 but had to post pone due to family illness and also I tore my ligment in my ankle and am still having trouble waling again. Thanks for any tips or help! Confused and Stressing Bride - Liz

  • I highly suggest posting on the Philly board for local vendor recs. Although I can tell you that I'm using Shutterbooth Philadelphia for my photobooth. Just take a deep breath and relax. 7 months is still plenty of time to get things done. Good luck :-)

  • I love the V-day theme since it's so meaningful to you and your FI!

As for the STDs you could always create your own in PowerPoint or Photoshop and then import it into VistaPrint.  You'll have a lot more freedom to get the look exactly how you like it.  If you need info on how to do that just google "Vistaprint Goddess" and another knottie's vistaprint site will come up.  She's got tips for everything on there!

As for the rest of your questions, I'm sorry I can't help you.  I'm in Rhode Island but I def. recommend checking out your local board!

Take a deep breath, you have time.  Welcome to the board, we're a fun and supportive group :-)

I thing the v-day theme is great because it has such a personal reason. And you can never go wrong with candy! haha

If you're looking for help with a STD that is v-day themed, I can help you out :)
I created all my own stuff and I have some cute v-day embellishments you could use. You'd just have to upload the final image file to VP and print :)

    WELCOME!!!

** I should add that I'm not pushing sales lol - I'd do it for free just to help out :)

  • I'm from Philadelphia too so I'd be happy to answer any questions that pertain to our location! We are also date twins!

For the photobooth! I recommend checking groupon and living social every day and waiting for one to pop up. It happens pretty frequently. You can check other areas around here like philadephia proper, south jersey, phila suburbs. My friend got one for $375 dollars! You DO need to call them first and make sure your date is available though!

  • Okay step one, breathe and smile this is all going to work out. :)

Step two, STD's!  Have a picture you really love of you and FI?  Head down to a Wallgreens or Walmart(shudder) and check out their photo customiser booth things.  This is cheap and personal.  I've always thought that hanging a piece of paper on the fridge with Please Write it Down, Date is a little impersonal.  I love the idea of people seeing FI and I everytime they get a glass of milk.  And I am on a huge budget(not that I spend out rageous amounts of money on ANYTHING).

Step Three, V-day theme!  Now don't get me wrong here because I am going to tell you that I love the fact that it means something to you and your FI.  I am a football playing, t-shirt wearing, camping, metal head...you wouldn't see pink near me.  But that's ME!!  I think it's a great idea, go ALL FOR IT!!!

GL! And don't forget to breathe!!

  • Hi, welcome to the board!
Ditto using VistaPrint for your STD's. You can design them anyway you want and really make them personal!  Love the V-day theme, especially the fact it means so much to you & FI. Hope you are planning/already taking advantage of all the sales!
  • I used VP for our STDs. I made them postcards so they only cost $.29 to mail.  Photo on the front, info on the back.  Everyone said they loved them.  Pretty sure I'm going to do our invites the same way.  There is a charge, but you can upload any photo you want to any project.  Also, the 800 number is VERY helpful, so if you run in to a snag, the people can fix it for you.

I just saw a really cute chex mix on pinterest for valentine's day.  I have a "holiday" board with ideas, right now it's just VD, but I'll be adding more things as I see them.

My advice for the VD theme is to make it so it's not so bright and in your face red and pink.  Keep things subtle.  Red roses are probably the most "Valentine" for flowers, but you can always mix them up with other things like pink tulips or daisies, white too.  After VD this year, hit up Michael's and Hobby Lobby and Walmart for decor.  Not all of your tables have to match, so make a couple different centerpieces.  One year I got some heart marble things on clearance and they are mixed in a vase of marbles at my house.  You could do something like that in the bottom of a vase with a floating candle.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
