Dress Doesn't Fit

I picked up my dress yesterday, and after trying it on at home am realizing it's WAY too big...not flattering, kind of frumpy... uggh. The wedding is Aug. 4. I called my seamstress to see if she can do last-minute alterations. Anyone else having list-minute dress issues?

Re: Dress Doesn't Fit

  • Yikes what a nightmare!!! I hope they can fix it for you! My final fitting is next week, and I've got my fingers crossed it fits :o) good luck!!!

  • I'm SO thankful that I've had my dress since September and it still fits perfectly (well it was a bit snug cause I gained a little weight but I ditched the big bulky slip and now it's fine).

I really hope they can alter yours for you! I'm so sorry you're having issues!!! :(

BUT I will say grats on losing the weight you musta lost in order for it to not fit! That's gotta be kinda on the upside right?

  • Eeek...What does the neckline look like? My dress was too long, but rather than doing a hem, they were able to shorten the halter straps, pulling the dress up. That took way less time than a full hem would. Good luck!

  • I had to get a corset back put into my dress because I didn't lose enough weight, which was a big fiasco. I'm actually going back today to pick it up. SO excited.
Seamstresses deal with this stuff all the time. I know you're probably freaking out right now, sweetiepie, but all will end well. I'd bet my own wedding that it will be fixed by the time your big day arrives. <3

  • Well, I wasn't in a time crunch since I'm 8/25, but first my dress was taken in a tiny bit too much and when I went back, it was a tad loose.  Rather than go back and forth, she just corrected it for me on the spot so I could try it on and she could minimally alter until we had it perfect.  She does work out of her home, so this may have made it easier.  Perhaps finding someone to do this while you wait is the solution?

  •   sorry to hear that ,i think the fist think u must do is to confirm the dress can be  altered ,the day is so urgent , i  u will give a satisfied  solution ,if not , i think u had better  buy a new one at once
    congratulations

  • Ugh, my dress is too big too!  The store recommended a size 8 based on my chest measurements, and I thought that would be fine because it's a corset back and it should be able to be tightened down to a 6 in other areas.  Well we laced up the coreset as tight as it would go and I have a ton of room left.  The seamstress can only take the dress in on one side due to the structure of the dress, and the amount of work it would take wouldn't make much of a difference.  I'm so mad, I wish I would have thought a little bit before selecting the size!

I don't know what to do, it's not a huge deal and looks ok, I just wanted it to be perfect.
  • My dress is too small- biggest nightmare ever. I had to go on steroids for autoimmune issues so I am 2 inches bigger around since the dress was ordered :( I cried all day Saturday when I went for the first fitting and have to go back this Thursday for second fitting.
