Catholic Church Help!!!

I am a Roman Catholic, my fiance and I had originally been planning a destination wedding (that would take place in a church somewhere in a tropical setting). Due to budgetary restraints and what-not, we decided to plan something more local to where I grew up. We have a priest lined up, and he is a close family friend. We were all set to get married at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine in South/Central IL. We even booked the day, and they gave us the info necessary for our priest to get the paperwork started. He just called and informed me that the local dioscese will NOT allow any Catholic weddings there, as it is not a "recognized" parish. Needless to say, we are back at square one. We really have our hearts set on the date we picked already (9/3/11) because his family will all be traveling in, and I've been to so many of the same weddings back at my home parish, that I just don't have any desire to follow suit. We have no idea where we can book a church at this point. Has anyone run into the same issues with the Shrine, or been in a similar situation? Anyone have any suggestions for a fabulous church in the Southern IL/St. Louis area?!?!

Book a venue THEN pick the date based on when the venue is available.

Isn't this a better question for google?  or the yellow pages?

If you don't have any constructive suggestions, then why are you posting? I'm asking for suggestions from anyone wanting to help, so if you are only interested in sarcasm, save it for someone else, please.

You will have better luck on the knot's local St. Louis board or here:  http://www.stlwed.com/forum/

There are a ton of churches in greater STL and its IL suburbs. It's a very Catholic area.  Many will be booked and/or charge an extra fee for people from other parishes. Not good or bad, just something to be aware of.

St. Francis Xavier is probably one of the nicest ones:

As far as the IL side goes, I've been to Holy Trinity in Fairview Heights. The whole building is only about 2 or 3 years old, so slightly more modern but very nice:

But the link Zsa posted should be more useful, though you'll get a lot more responses about STL and its western suburbs than you will about the IL suburbs.
