Plus Size Brides...

Where did you get your dress?  Also what brand besides Alfred Angelo did you get or are looking at?

a little story....
I went to try on dresses the other day.  one woman looked overwhelmed at my size from the moment I walked in,  she put a dress on me that didnt fit.  She was so worried about the dress that she practically ripped it off me while standing on the little platform in the changing area.  So I was standing there in only my bra and underwear.  I was so red in the face.  I asked her if I could put it back on to go get my clothes... no she left me there almost naked and went to get my stuff for me.

I asked to work with someone else.. went much better after that.

Wow, I'm really sorry that you had that experience.  I know that Edith's in Fond du Lac and Amelishan in Hubertus have some plus sized gowns.  Edith's has a great selection in all sizes and I"ve really liked their service-that's where I'm getting my dress from.

I am so sorry to hear that.  That really stinks what that lady did.

I second Amelishan, though some of the consultants can come across as pushy (and you can't take pictures in the dresses unless you plan to purchase...they insist on helping you in the fitting room, too.)

I bought mine at Kay's on North Ave in Wauwatosa.  They were very nice there.  It's a bit different set up...you look at a book and tell them which dresses you want to try on and they pull them for you.  My dress is by Eden's.

I hope you have better service next time.  I know that I was a bit nervous trying on stuff due to the fact that I'm considered plus size, but no one ever did anything like that to me.

I am a plus size bride that actually ordered a Alfred Angelo, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, I live in Kenosha so these places might be a little far for you but I went to Images in racine and to Eva's in Oak Creek with good luck

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience Frown I got my dress at Eva's in Oak Creek and they had nice selection of larger size dresses for us plus size brides. I also went with Alfred Angelo myself but they had lots of other designers there to choose from.

AMELISHAN in Richland ROCKS!  They are reasonably priced and have a wide selection for plus-sized brides. :)  Sorry your first experience sucked.  I went to Amelishan (the only place I went) and found my dress in one day.  I love it!

I also bought my dress at Amelishan...it was the 3rd place i had went to. I worked with megan I believe and she was really nice. I also went to Eva's in Madison...They were really nice and I found a dress their I really liked, but ended up with an Alfred Angelo one at Amelishan. Eva's in Madison seemed a little pricier. Every dress i tried on their was over 900, the designer their was Mon Cheri that I really liked. I liked the experience at both places.... I disliked my experience going to Davids Bridal. I wanted to go to Ediths in Fond du Lac, but I had already found my dress at Amelishan. I think everyone else has already said the places I know of.

    Good luck!

Eva's in Oak Creek....have a good number of plus size dresses and they were helpful..you couldn't take pics though.. I bought my dress at Images of Racine...my dress is by Maggie Sottero...called the Hala. The ladies in there were super nice and helpful and I got a free pair of shoes to boot! I also went to David's in Greenfield....now mind you I am plus size and 6'1...the lady at David's asked if I was always tall. WTF?! I didn't have a growth spurt last week lady! weird!

Try Amelishan. I wasn't too sure at first but once I got there, I absolutely loved it! They had all different sizes and styles and the consultant was great to work with. She listened to what I was looking for and watched what I was pulling and she pulled a dress for me based on that. And it was the absolutely most perfect dress ever!!
