July 2012 Weddings

What should I do? *UPDATE*

So we get a package in the mail- it's a set of 5 mixing bowls, very nice!!

Problem is we have no idea who sent it. It was addressed directly to me (not to FI). I am assumign this MIGHT be for a shower gift? But it could be a wedding gift.

What do I do? Obviously we need to thank whoever sent it to us!

Re: What should I do? *UPDATE*

  • Is it from one of your registries? If so, you might be able to contact the store to see if there is any record of who bought it?

Otherwise....I have no idea what to tell you! was there no return address label?
  • What I would do (and what I will probably have to do eventually) is just wait. Wait until you get all your gifts and see who didn't get you any gifts. Then you could ask around and say "hey, there were a lot of unmarked presents we received...did you happen to get us mixing bowls?"

On second thought, it may be awkward if that guest didn't actually give you anything... but I can't think of another way to approach it. You can't thank the person when you don't know which person to thank!

  • Yes it's from one of the registeries and I found the name of the buyer, but we have NO idea who that person is. We are asking our parents to see if they know the person. I'm assuming the person may be somebody's mother or a person using her maiden name.

Off to do some resesarch now!

  • You know, something similar happened to me.  However, I knew it was coming because I received an email from Macy's that                             has sent you a gift from your registry.  But when the gift came, there was no note or anything that said it was from that person.  If it was purchased off your registry, you should be able to find out by calling.

  • Same thing happened to us. A very nice wine decanter came and we still have no idea who sent it. There was NOTHING in the package. I still need to call BBB to see who bought it. I'll let you know if it's easy to figure out . . .

  • That stinks if it was from macys there could be a second box with the card in it. This happened from our best man. And we had no idea so I called Macy's. Good luck tracking down the person since you got a name. Also check if it's one of their grown kids, one non Internet savy person bought our gift online with the help of her daughter and it printed out the daughters name on the card in the gift.

  • I THINK it is one of my cousins- she is married though, she could have used her maiden name when purchasing the gift. I have no idea why she'd do that- but she is our #1 suspect as of now!!

The gift was bought through Amazon so I'd guess it'd be difficult to track down who purchased it.

I should have became a detective. The suspect is actually my cousin (well my cousin's wife).

Now I'm worried that she actually kept her name when she married my cousin. I hope I didn't offend her with the invitation by writing down my cousin's last name for both of them.
