What was the best shower gift you received from your shower?

I haven't had my shower yet but looking for cute and/or useful, fun gift for my friends weddings.

    we didnt get anything out of the ordinary or that we didn't register for. but my sister got a door mat with their new last name on it. i thought that was pretty handy and cute!

    We registered for a lot of useful gifts or gifts that we needed to upgrade.  So my 
    cuisinart coffee pot/grinder.  Best gift ever since I'm a huge coffee drinker.  Good pots and pans.  I didn't get anything really cute or out of the ordinary. 

    I did get, as a wedding gift from my SIL's mother, a handmade afghan.  It is so soft and wonderful and a complete surprise.  I love it!

    My favorite gift was kind of an inside joke with one of my BMs-- she was my freshman roommate and I used to make refried beans with Velveeta cheese and eat it (kind of gross, I know), and she used to tell me that it was a great dip.  It was an ongoing argument because I didn't use it as dip and she would always call it dip.  

    For her shower, we were supposed to bring a recipe so of course I brought the recipe for the "dip," along with the ingredients.  For my shower, she bought the chip/dip server off my registry, along with a can of refried beans, velveeta cheese, and tortilla chips.

    I also got an apron from Anthropologie that I hadn't registered for, but I love it.

    A friend of mine likes to give board games at the shower. They are great for the couple when they entertain.

    I've also seen personalized signs with the couple's new last name. (i.e. The Smiths est. 2011) which I think are cute for their home. There are ones with the letters done in pictures as well.

    my favorite gift I got that I didnt register for was a doorknocker for our new home. It said "The (our last name), established 9/18/10" (our wedding date)

    My favorite thing from our registry was getting our Keurig Coffee Maker - DH and I LOVE it!  We use it every day and probably wouldn't have thought to buy it otherwise.

    Our favorite two items not on our registry was a beautiful huge brass wall clock from Kirkland's that matches a few other items in our living room from BIL and his fiance and a personalized frame that SIL got for us that says "It doesn't matter where you're going, what you do, or how much you have - It's who you have beside you," With our names on it. We love this and have one of our engagement pictures in it!

    I don't have a specific fav from the registry, but 2 unique gifts we got were a handmade afghan and a stained glass clock that is gorgeous. As much as I appreciated the stuff from the registry, those were the 2 items I was most excited about.
