Offbeat DJ

I'm looking for a DJ who can play a lot of old, offbeat tunes. We don't want the Elecrtic Slide or even too much top 40 or Sinatra standards -- we'd love a 60s sock hop feel, with lots of doowop and motown.

Are there any DJs locally who specialize in this kind of thing? I emailed a few public radio DJs to see if they spin private parties. Can we hire a wedding DJ to play this kind of music exclusively?

    My DJ is great and he will play or not play whatever you tell him to!  I'm sure he could work something out for you I request my bridal party be introduced to the Fox NFL theme song, he had no problem tracking it down, downloading it and playing it!  Mike Mancini  www.ristardj.com

    I think most DJ's will play whatever you want if you explain what that is.  Try Alan from Moondance.  My husband is originally from Newfoundland and at our wedding some of his family requesty this type of music.  On the spot Alan connected to the internet and found some of the Newfie music.  I'm sure it was a request that he's never gotten and he found the music with ease.     I met at guy at an open house last year and he gave me his card...he was actually wearing red shoes at the time!  I think when we were talking he said they could have a DJ set up, too.
