Paint Advice!!!

So I have seen that a lot of you out there have remodeled or are very creative. I need some help on colors for a living room!

I picked out a color like months ago and now I absolutly hate it.
I am not creative. It sucks. Decorating not my thing.

Anyway, I need some suggestion for colors or brands, I am wanting a color similiar to like a mocha, coffee color. Its for the living room.

Everytime I pick a color from the swatch its looks super bright. So if you have any favorite colors you have used or colors you recommend. (Mutley I'm looking at you chica)

BTW If it seems like I am posting to much, it's just a distration from the thought of being doomed because, I go to the dentist today. Cry

You could go for a two-tone room.  Use a darker color on top and lighter on bottom or lighter on top/darker on bottom.  Go to the paint section and check out the sample cards, they'll have colors that go well together.

Make sure to post pictures when you're done.

If you're going to paint the whole room a similar color anyway, get a couple of sample cans (they're much cheaper) and paint big sections that color.  Once it's on the wall and dry, it will be more obvious to you which ones are good choices.

Also, dark colors make rooms look smaller, typically.  Matte colors are more popular now than shiny ones, and might help with that "bright" issue.

Yeah we have already painted four rooms and it came out pretty well. We used Martha Stewart and her stuff is just amazing. Also the eggshell colors as well. My favorite room is a powder pink eggshell color and a gray wall to tone down the color. I wanted it to be the palest pink, almost white but, it didnt happen.

It just always seems like the color is not what we thought even with the samples.

How dark do you want to go?  What color is your couch?  Other furniture?

Our new living room is Behr's Sandstone Cove (730C-2.)  And our kitchen will be 2 or 3 shades darker.

This picture doesn't show its true tone.  I can get a better one with the new white trim, baseboards and flooring.

Mr. Man's nursery is Glidden's Warm Caramel.  I love it.

Our living room in SD was also Behr but I do not remember the name.
I told DH that I wanted a color similar to chocolate milk.  He thought I was crazy, but he loved the final product.

(First picture I was able to find with our living room walls.  Haha.)

I prefer Satin or Eggshell in living rooms.

One of the issues with tans/browns is that you need to get away from the orange based colors.  Look for more a cool, gray undertone.

I just did a room in Basketry - Behr Ultra - the paint and primer in one thing.

In my old condo I had Ben Moore capilano bridge in half of the rooms and... don't remember in the others. I think the capilano was the color of McD's hot chocolate. :)

I also vote eggshell. Cleans up better than a flat but not shiny. Brown shiny is - welll..... - gross.

GASP!!! Yes chocolate Milk!!!!! Yes and thats the tone I want, the one with the christmas tree. something on that level of browns.

I also am not sure if I should change it because the kitchen color is a color that goes with the honey beige color we have for the living room. We also already painted the kitchen, which I do like, but I just am not feeling the living room color after all.

As far as pictures go apparently I still live in the medieval times, I do not, nor have I ever owned a Digital camara. Or a camara in general. It's embarassing.

Oh I have Warm caramel for some reason. I may just have to use that color instead. It looks really great.
