Dresses for moms

My wedding colors are fushia pink and bright orange.  The guys are wearing light grey tuxs.  Any suggestions as to what colors the moms should wear to sort of match the wedding party?

maybe a maroon/wine color and brown? Seems like those colors would be a play off the pink and orange?

They don't have to match.  They aren't in the bridal party...are they?

Yeah the wine color sounds good. or if you don't care she can wear any color that doesnt completly clash. My moms wearing a fern-ish green colored dress and our colors are light pink, dark purple and burgandy it goes good but not our colors. hth

The moms get to pick what they'd like.  If they are looking for suggestions you can mention your colors and give them a swatch but beyond that, the moms get to pick the attire that they want.

My Mom wore chocolate brown and my MIL wore a burgundy wine color.  I didn't even think about trying to match them to us.

i totall agree with banana...only offer options if they ask for your opinion or for a guideline.  As long as they know the colors of the wedding, I'm sure they're not going to pick something that will look bad.

Also, for what its worth, i didnt take ANY pictures of our parents with our bridal party...and i'm trying to think of when the mothers would be with the bridesmaids long enough for it to really even matter? Even if they do spend time together at the reception, it would be the same as guests spending time together who have uncoordinated outfits. Just my opinion..

I think as long as the colors the moms pick compliments the bridal party then anything goes. One thing the bridal shops are telling me is that bright reds and whites/ivory are faux pas for the moms. I think some sort of pale green would be nice.

They should wear whatever color they want. My girls wore hot pink. My mom was in gold and MIL wore a deep purple. They don't have to match the BP at all.

That's actually not correct.  It's nice if they do complement the bridal party but it's totally not required.  It's all up to each mom to pick a dress she likes.  No other input is necessary.
