Issues with Target - vent!

Hello all my fellow brides. I just wanted to give you a heads up. My first shower is tomorrow and my next shower is in two weeks, which is out of town. Since one of our showers is out of town, we have already started to receive several shower gifts. I looked and there was nothing off our Target registry; however, we are getting tons of gifts off our list from there. So, I called. Apparently they are having "technical difficulties" and have for over a week. They were unable to tell me when the issue would be resolved. The only resolution they could give me was to mark the items we have already received as "purchased." So, if you are registered at Target and your showers are coming closer, be ready for multiple duplicates!

  • Be careful with Target.  They have been notorious for years for having issues with their registries.  Many brides report duplicates and extreme difficulities dealing with returns to the stores.
  • Mine's a pain too; they haven't taken anything off the 360 registry yet although I only have two items on there. I can't delete them either because for MONTHS they've been having these technical difficulties.

    Wish I knew this before we started ours. Should have looked into it, I just "expected more" out of a company as established as Target. Whoops.

    My guests also were calling Target and it finally got back to me that quantities were not being updated and it was not an isolated problem with one or two guests. Almost everything we requested was over-purchased. ("Items requested: 1, Items purchased: 2")

    I was on the phone for well over an hour yesterday trying to let them know there is some fatal flaw in their registry system. I kept being told that my complaint would be noted. NO! My registry is live! Something needs to BE DONE! Finally the 3rd guy I spoke with was able to tell me that, in fact, there is no flaw at all. This is how the registry is designed.

    If you are having a shower, and a guest changes the bride/groom shipping address to their address, then the registry quantity does not update. The purchaser hopefully notices this and immediately calls Target so they can manually update! That is simply how it works. The shipping address is the qualifier for the quantity to update.

    The Target registry does not work. It's completely impractical. We have absolutely no idea what quantities of items were purchased, and neither does Target. Should make for an awkward as hell shower. Needless to say, we shut it down, registered on Bed Bath and Beyond and are currently in the process of notifying everyone who already received their shower invitation.

    Do not use Target's registry!
  • We used it and didnt recieve any duplicates. I did however notice some things not marked at purchased so i just updated them. I didnt see a big thing with it though.
