Workout Accountability: Tuesday

Morning Ladies!

Kenpo and healthy eating went as planned yesterday.  Today is stretch x, which is basically an off day.  The timing for it is probably perfect with the 'code red' heat warning we're apparently in starting today.

How is everyone doing today?

Re: Workout Accountability: Tuesday

  • Morning!

Lobsters I feel you on the heat! at 5:30am a heat advisory was put in then by 7AM it was upgraded to "Extreme heat" Its KILLING me! the crazy city smog and humidity mixed with a chest infection and no AC at home...I am miserable!

Because I can't work out right now My accountability today is to my quitting smoking routine. Yesterday I got a prescription for Champex the first 2 weeks you continue to smoke with it (just slowly decrease the amount). Yesterday I had 3 smokes (compared to the usual 5-7 I have)
Today I am aiming to only have 2.

  • Mornin. We did legs this morning and then I ran afterwards. Did well on eating. We need to do a grocery run soon and they finally opened a Trader Joe's not too far away so I'm super stoked to go. True Life: excited about grocery shopping. I am officially an old married mom.
  • souptin - way to start strong!

zero- I am TJ's obsessed, so I share your enthusiasm :)

  • I'm back ladies! Eating wasnt the hottest, and I took much of my 4 day vacation as down time by doctors orders. However I'm feeling much better thanks to R&R, extra meds for my condition and a lot of love.

Thursday my run got tossed due to the added rheumatologist appointment.
Friday I was in the car all day
    Saturday 5.5 mile run, dancing
    Sunday Hike (proposal :))
Monday in the car all day

On our vacation we attended a beautiful wedding. I also got my official proposal :D. I'm so excited I could pop!

Sigh, I really need to get some work done this morning...

  • Yesterday was 50 minute walk at work and that ws it.  We had dinner at a friend's house which was lobster, steak (FI and I shared a small one), 1/2 corn on teh cob and guilty pleasure - twice baked potato.

So today is a healtht lunch, 1/2 cup of cereal for breakfast (my usual), snacks for the workday today, nothing fancy, just 1 small slice of banana bread for a treat, apple, 1/2 cup pineapple, sugar free and low cal tapioca, for dinner 1 cup garden salad.  We'll do our 50 minute walk at work again today, looks like the rain is going to hold off.  Dinner at my parents will be pork chops and potatos...told my parents to go easy with the amount of potatos they are cooking.  Chances are tonight we won't do any exercise again because its our friends' anniversary so we'll have to visit them with a card.

Anyway must run and grab my tapioca and some water to keep me going until lunchtime.

  • Dew - Congrats girl!!!! :)

This weekend was my bridal shower and it was great! I did have a cupcake even though I was paranoid about eating one! My birthday is this Saturday and there's also 5k that day in my area so I think I may sign up. This morning I ran 3.25 miles at the gym. Stay cool today ladies!

  • I made FI double chocolate chip muffins last night and I had to have one.  I felt guilty for about, oh, five minutes before I realized I haven't had a true sweet/baked good in a long time now.  Plus, I do make my baked goods somewhat 'healthier', with egg whites, applesauce, whole wheat flour, and splenda.

Today is super hot with an air quality action day.  I'm contemplating the gym...there's a pilates class at noon but I don't care for the instructor.  Now that FI figured out the AC situation in our kitchen/living room, I might just do some yoga here.  Or, I'll go to the mall and walk laps.  I'm going to a young professional "happy hour" tonight and I know the temptation to drink will be strong.

  • Good morning!

Got to go on a short walk with co-workers in the afternoon, then last night I was feeling exhausted, but I pushed myself to go to the Body Combat class at the gym. There were 2 instructors this time, the one I had last time, and someone who looked SUPER familiar. After class, she said she recognized me as well and we figured out it's because we work in the same corporate offices. Crazy!

After the class, I got 25 minutes of weightlifting and then I was just dead. I had wanted to get a little bit of additional cardio in, but there was no way I was going to push myself further when I still had to run to the store (I'm sure I was already looking super attractive red faced, sweaty with matted hair).

Tonight a friend is coming over to cook dinner, and I also have a phone interview during the break time that I normally go on walks with co-workers, so I feel like I'm SOL for exercise today. I'm actually sort of stressed out because my week is so busy and I don't have time to fit my normal exercise in and then this weekend I'm travelling AGAIN. I feel like I'm going to gain weight from all this and it stresses me out even more.

  • Souptin - impressive. Good luck! Dew - welcome back and congrats Last night FI cooked a delicious pork tenderloin with a cherry glaze. Problem was it took him about 2 hours to make the dish. We decided it is now a weekend only meal. Today I am biking to work. I should be able to get 3 bike rides in this week.

  • Enjoyed my rest day, we did end up going bowling so thats a little something.  Didn't eat really well but the portions were small in size.  Apparently my Wii was mad at me for not checking in for two days after I had been checking in daily. It told me I went up 8.8 pounds in two days.  I know that can't possibly be right, especially with all the exercise I got in on Sunday, we'll see what it says tomorrow.  I have an interview this afternoon so not sure when I'll get my workout in. I still feel half asleep and was starving so I just ate some cereal. Feeling frustrated to the point of 'f it' right now -.-

  • Morning ladies!

Last night we worked on wedding stuff for a bit then I finally got to swim at 8:30. It started to get dark so I only got in 15 minutes but the day was good with eating. Today its so hot and the air is so poor I will likely swim again.

I have to take the pup to the Vet, I think she has an ear infection so depending on how long that takes will determine how healthy dinner is. When its super hot like this I just have no appetite, anyone else notice this happening to them?
  • I'm new to the accountability tread..I posted yesterday asking for motivation and this was an option..good luck to you ladies. My name is Evelyn and I have about 50 lbs to lose to get to my high school weight and my wedding is in 7.5 months and I'd like to be as close to my goal as possible. I went to the gym this morning and did my usual 1 hour of elliptical. Goal for today or this week is to purchase one of those watches that counts your calories. Also, want to add my Zumba DVDs to my daily activity. No sure what the usual calories lost in them are, but it's fun and keeps me moving. See you ladies tomorrow, as I'll let you know how the rest of my day went.... Thanks for everyones support

  • @ pomundson0 - I know the feeling!

I weighed in last night and it said that I went up 2lbs.
I had been steady the last 2 weeks and I feel ate really well last week. I don't understand understand how I could have gone up two pounds. I was very close to my calories marker every day, so I don't think I am instarvation mode or anything. I went over by maybe 250cal  total for the week, but that should not at all make me be gaining. I guess it could be water or something, but I was really hoping to see some actual progress here. I am super stressed about life stuff. Guessing that is affecting it, but I am not really sure how to be less stressed right now.

    Hey Ladies!

thebtflbride: I am new too :) I just started looking at the accountability board yesterday.  Honestly I just posted without introducing myself but I am going to borrow your idea and do so (I don't know why I didn't yesterday lol).

So again hi, ladies.  Yesterday was my first day posting on here and I am glad to say I am back!  My name is Bethany, am from the twin cities in MN.  Today is day 5 of eating healthy and trying to exercise.  My wedding isn't for a while yet but I am attending a wedding this September so I figure I will have shorter deadlines like the Sep. wedding, halloween, christmas/new years, Valentines day lol pretty much anything with a new outfit ;)  On Friday I weighed 212 (I am only 5'8 so yeah... ouch), today I weigh 208 -4 lbs!  My ultimate goal, for over the course of  ~9 months is 60lbs (2lbs/wk)!

Yesterday was a good day :) I stayed true to my goal of 1200 calories and my FI and I went for a walk at a waterfall so there were TONS of stairs we climbed up and down :)

Lobsters: The peach chicken we had last night was AMAZING!!
Meal for 2: All you need is 1 can of peaches (no sugar added), 6 chicken tenderloins, salt and pepper.
Preheat the oven to 375*.  While its preheating marinate your thawed chicken tenderloins in the juice from peaches (keep the actual peaches to the side) ~10-15 min.  Put chicken and peach juice in pan, season with salt and pepper to taste & bake for ~10-15 min (until cooked through).  Top with peaches and bake another 10 min.  Enjoy! Don't worry about overbaking the chicken comes out super moist since you are cooking it in the peach juice!

Last night we both had 2 servings of peaches, 1.5 servings of chicken for a total calorie count of 210 calories :) We served with rice and corn on the cob making the whole filling meal less than 550 calories!

Marston: I am sorry you are stressed about life, I know that makes keeping to calories and exercising even harder! Been there! I am glad you are staying strong though.  2lb fluctuation isn't a set back at all :)  Stress can do a lot of crappy things to your body, so I think you should just stay active and forget the 2lb gain and see what next weigh in brings.  Who knows maybe you are gaining muscle which is awesome b/c that will increase your metabolism!

Souptin - Way to go! You're doing it!

Dewing - Congratulations! Also, glad you're feeling better after your much needed R&R.

Thebt - Welcome to the daily accountability boards!

Marston - It's highly unlikely that you've gained 2 pounds of fat - remember that you'd need to go over your total daily energy expenditure by 7000 calories to do that! That 2 pounds is for sure water weight. Up the water the next couple of days and see what happens! Also, I find that if you take 2 days off from [heavy] exercising (ie, just a walk or super slow jog instead of weight training/running) on the 2nd day off my weight is generally lower because my muscles aren't swollen with water from workin' 'em!

My arms/body are finally starting to feel a little better today, so I'm going to go out for a run! Eating will stay on track, and I'm super excited to go get a pedicure this afternoon. Some pampering always feels so good!

    Have a good day everyone!

I felt really gross yesterday (possibly from the eclairs FI's brother brought over on Sunday...) but as a result I ate less and had a good 35 min. on the elliptical last night.

Today I did 30DS and I sort of hurt my shoulder/neck. I'm going to have to switch back to elliptical tomorrow, I think.

Also, this might sound really gross, but FI and I might be addicted to Fiber One bars. We're trying to limit our intake of processed foods but it's... causing some issues. Any ideas for other super high fiber snacks (that aren't high fat)?
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • Lukeyloo, I love fiber one bars! But they can't replace real unprocessed fruits and veggies - so get lots of them in.

Whenever possible, eat the fruit or veggie with the skin it came in. The more surface area, the more insoluble fiber (makes up the structure of plants and isn't digestible) - so for example berries are something that will give you lots of fiber for not much fruit. You should aim for 25-35 grams of fiber per day, depending on your size! I have read that more than 60 grams per day can cause gas and bloating, and basically do what you are trying to avoid by eating fiber in the first place!

1 cup of raspberries has about 6.5 grams of fiber
1 pear with skin has about 5 grams
    1 orange has 4 grams
1 apple with skin has about 5 grams
1 cup of peas has about 8 grams
2 cups of popped popcorn has 3.5 grams
    1 avocado has 11.8 grams

    Other high fiber foods:
    Beans & lentils
Whole Grains (whole wheat pastas, breads, bran cereals, etc.)
Basically you can't go wrong with veggies and fruits!

    Good luck!

  • Yesterday didn't get any exercise but only went over my calorie limit by 100. Today I got up and did my insanity workout and am going rock climbing this afternoon. I've been stuck at the same weight for two weeks now so need to figure out something to kick start my weight loss again. Over the weekend I tried on he sample dress of the wedding dress I got which was a size too small at the begining of June and it fit almost perfectly now which was great to see that even though may not have lost a lot of lbs the inches are definitely coming off.

I am assuming you mean <em>Chantix</em>.  That pill is amazing!  I tried quitting for a really long time and finally I asked my doc for a script, after 1 month I was 100% done with cigs.  Everyone is different, but something to look forward to...once I got myself done to 2 a day I was able to quit completely.  The cravings were so weak they were so easy to bypass and not give in.  I have been quit for a year and a half!
I hope you have the same success!  Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! Champex is what it is sold as in canada, chantix is the US version (same product different branding)  I am so happy to hear that you had success with it!  I really feel motivated to quit..kind of woke up feeling like crap from smoking too much the night before and just knew it was time.

  • Today was .... confusing emotionally.  My alarm went off at 545 and I shut it off to go back to bed for 45 minutes.  I was so exhausted I barely had enough energy to lift my arm and all that extra sleep was amazing.  But when I finally got up I was kicking myself for not working out.  Was starving ALL day long, couldn't eat enough, all while trying to stay within my calorie limit.

After work I called my dad whose recovering from having his middle toe removed due to complications from diabetes and turns out he needs to have his right foot and calf removed.  He's really casual talking about it, but gets really bummed out when thinking about how he might not be able to walk me down the isle, or walk at all.  So I headed off to the gym with that cloud over my head.  My workout wasn't as good as it could have been because I was thinking about him.  He lives 2 hours from me ... so worried and sad.

Tomorrow is GET up for Jillian in the AM and then bridal bootcamp after work.  Hopefully I'll be able to get up this morning.

All of you ladies are fabulous, thanks for all the motivation :)

  • Hello Everyone! I am new too! I've already lost 25 pounds and on the way to lose 25 more! I am training for my first 5K and yesterday I ran 2 miles for the first time ever!! Today it was a 1.25 mile run and I was going to follow that with arms but have somehow lost my weights...they have literally disappeared. I am also doing weight watchers and have 4 points left for the day and might finish my night with cold 2 point MGD 64. Weigh In is tomorrow, wish me luck! dawnp: would love that Pork tenderloin/cherry glaze recipe!

  • Sunrise, sorry about your Dad...keep positive! I need a kick in the butt, I haven't exercised in a while. I have also been over my calorie intake. Ugh, really need to get it together :(
  • I had a good food weekend and week thus far, nice and healthy. I checked in at the docs yesterday and I've lost 7lbs over the past 2ish weeks (since the 6th) which is AWESOME! I have been lagging in my exercise routine since Sat though :-/ Does moving count as exercise? b/c if it does then I definitely exercised on Sat and Sun, but Monday and Tuesday were " I'm too tired to move, leave me alone" days. My new commute combined with summer schedule at work equals no energy once I get home. Tonight I'm gonna put on my big girl panties and do my 45min walk with FI without too much whining lol

Keep truckin ladies, we can do it! :-)
