How much alcohol to buy?

Have any of you ladies decided on how much alcohol you'll need to buy to serve your guests? Any tips on amounts and ratios?  We plan on having about 110 guests, and will serve beer, red and white wine, and champagne for toasting.  Right now I need to buy white wine because there's an excellent sale, but I'm not sure how much to get!

Re: How much alcohol to buy?

  • Someone posted an alcohol chart on the fb group a few days ago but I can't remember who it was.....

  • Try this calculator-

It's from Real Simple magazine and includes stuff like 'what are you serving?' and 'what kind of day'.

</div><div>That calculator made things simple indeed!  It also recommended, as a cost saver, to serve a signature drink.  Is it really more cost effective to make a cocktail than to serve beer and wine?  If so, a refreshing mojito would suit our wedding colors......hmmmm.

  • I think a signature drink is used as an alternative to a full liquor bar to save money. I definitely would not use one in place of beer and wine. Many people do not like hard liquor.

  • Yeah, I think some people serve beer + wine and then a signature drink or two instead of serving liquor. I personally don't drink liquor, so I'd be a little bummed out if there was no beer or wine.

I'm going to go with the other two and say I think they're talking a signature drink in addition to beer and wine.

I can think specifically of a really lovely wedding where they served beer, wine, a sparkling wine (champagne, but not technically 'cause it wasn't from the fancy-pants part of France) and then a spiked lemonade-iced tea (aka a John Daley or as my friend described it 'a Tipsy Arnold Palmer').

It was an outdoor summer wedding and it was lovely.  My friends also mentioned that they had bought the beer and wine from Costco and had been able to get a good deal there-

    Good luck!!
