ceremony space decor?

Here is a pic of the ballroom set up for a ceremony. I have 2 black urns that will go on either side of the fireplace. I will have white flowers in the urns and possibly curly willow or some other branches sticking out of the tops. No table in the center.

Do you think I need something to line the aisle or should I use a runner? I don't normally like runners. I keep reminding myself that the ceremony will only last 10 minutes and I don't want to go overboard decorating it. Any ideas?

  • I think it looks beautiful without any extra decoration except for the urns that you mentioned. I don't think you need a runner.

  • Wow that space is beautiful! I love the texture of the brick walls and those hanging lights. It looks so nice by itself I def. don't think you need a runner (but I don't like runners either so I might be biased). Maybe some white rose petals on the edges to better 'define' the aisle, or hanging black lanterns from the chairs on the end of every other row.. or hanging mason jars with the same white flowers you are putting in the urns?

But it really doesn't need it!

  • that place is gorgeous!  i also dont think that you need to add much to it... but i do think it would be pretty to have candles in glass cylinders line the aisle on both sides!

The candles in cylinders is EXACTLY what I was going to say!!! Imagine how beautiful and simple that would be. I've seen some amazing ceremony pictures with them and it just blew my mind because it was so pretty! By the way this bride-to-be is having ceremony spot envy!!!

  • Oh my gosh, your space is amazing! I don't normally like runners either, but honestly there's no need for one. Especially if you don't like them so much. I think what you described with the urns will be really cool.

I agree with the candles and tall vases.  Your space is beautiful because of its simplicity, and I think adding more candles would only make it that much more romantic and beautiful.  It's all you need!

  • As always you have great ideas! I might look into the candle thing. That would be pretty! I could probably even put a cluster in the fireplace. Thank you!

I didn't think we would be able to use the main ballroom for both the ceremony and reception. Now that the venue finally has some events under their belts they have mastered using the space for both! We booked the space when it was being renovated and there was rubble everywhere. They couldn't clearly answer all of our questions because they never had an evet there at that point. We took a chance and booked anyway. The venue's coordinators had a good reputation at the other venue they also run. Every time they post new photos it looks more and more amazing and I now feel great about our decision!

  • It's a beautiful space. If the candles don't work out, I think it's beautiful as is. But, I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to decor--especially ceremony decor. How exciting!
  • I think it looks beautiful as is. That being said, we used the glass vases and candles to line the aisle. It was our only ceremony decor and it looked amazing! I bought the vases at wal-mart and they were $5 each. The candles came from a local candle outlet and I think they were $1.99 each. The total for ceremony decor was about $120:)

The urns in the front will absolutely be enough.

Let this space sing on its own.  It is very beautiful.  Tuck away any $$ you'd spend on decorations for your honeymoon.

    Enjoy!
