    And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now.     This is what happens when I'm drinking scotch and taking valium. 

    Also purity balls exist....and they scare me.  I had a few friends in grade school.  They became the popular girls cause of the rings they got.  Even when I was like 9-10 sometime didn't sit right with me.

    I saw a 20/20 show about these once.  I can't imagine my dad caring that much about my sexual activity, and if he did I think I'd be really skeeved out.

    My father just cared that I was educated enought to avoid STDs, HIV and pregnancy.  I would have freaked if he wanted me to pledge myself to him.  Something doesn't add up there.

    Your explanation makes so much more sense than what I was imagining in my head. I heard purity ball and thought of some Christmas-type ornament that a young girl receives as a way of pledging her virginity. And I was like, "does she hang it somewhere? What does she do with it besides dirty things she's probably already doing anyway?"
