Save the dates w/ labels?

I know that generally it's inappropriate to use return address labels on invitations, but since Save the Dates are more informal, is it ok to use return address labels on them?

  • The STD is really the same as the invite for that purpose.  Calligraphy, nice handwriting, and  tracing over printed addresses by hand are all preferable to labels.

  • Save your labels for bills and such.  I am not a fan for labels on any sort of personal correspondence.  I'm a huge fan of embossing the return address.
  • I suppose some people would notice, but I honestly cannot remember if the last invitations/STDs we received had labels or were hand written.  I don't think it's something many people would care about.

That said, the proper etiquette is probably to hand-write.  This is just one of those rules I think few people give a flip about.

    YES.  THAT.  Exactly.
  • I've read that the save the dates are very casual, since they're kind of a new thing (accoring to what I've read) and not necessary. I've also read that a hand-written save the date letter is appropriate and in that case it would be more personal...and with that said (thinking as I'm typing), I believe you should address them by hand because that would make it more personal...and most people invite those with whom they have a more personal relationship with to the wedding.

I'll probably address mine by hand to save money.

  • I guess I was wrong, we printed labels.  But who really cares - save time and print the labels.  PP said save the money, but labels aren't that expensive and my time is worth more than hand writting each name and address.  Plus your guests aren't going to think OMG they printed labels, that isn't personal enough and I'm not going to their wedding anymore!  Seriously not a big deal!
