Summer Kennebunkport Hotels/house rentals

Hi everyone, I'm having my wedding in Kennebunkport next August and pretty much my entire guest list will be traveling from out of town. I'm not sure which are the best hotels for a big group (who may be kind of loud later into the night). I called the Nonantum, and they said they don't book groups if you're not having your event there. The Colony may work, but there are no TV's or AC in most of the rooms and I'm worried about disturbing other guests if we're all hanging out in someone's room late into the night. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'd like to stay close to Ocean Ave/Western Ave as possible so people don't get lost.

Part 2 of my question is that a lot of my guests have expressed interest in renting a house for the week, but how do I direct them on where to find decent rentals? The only ones I have found online so far require a 2 week minimum in August.

I am having my wedding at Nonantum next weekend and you are right about they don't block rooms there unless you have an event there.  I have a lot of guests staying at the Kings Port Inn, probably not as nice as Nonantum but the price is good ($159/nt).  Plus they are right in town, the location is actually a little better than Nonantum.

I know nothing about Kennebunkport, but have you checked www.vbro.com or www.homeaway.com?

I'm from Kennebunk... I second the Kingsport Inn suggestion.. walking distance to all the little shops downtown and the beach too.     as for the house rentals... try contacting a local real estate agent... they may be able to direct you to houses that are available to rent.

Are you from Kennebunk or a costal area? This isn't a direct help, but I just thought I'd mention that if most of your guests are comming from inland, they may not mind a place with no AC. I don't live in Kennebunk, I'm further up the coast but I do live in a costal community (like Kennebunk is). Whenever I have out of town visitors in the summer, they always comment on how "cool" it is even on the warmest days compared to what they are used to.

This may not be the case in Kennebunk (I have spent some time there, but not a tonne), but at my house its about 72F here when its 90F only 20 minutes inland at my parents house.

On a side note - I'm so jealous your are getting married in Kennebunk! I LOVE it there! I was pushing for mine to be there, but future hubby wanted a river. We rolled a dice and the river won.

I grew up in Gorham, so not too far inland but I survived my childhood with no AC.

Pretty much everyone will be coming from DC, Chicago and Florida, so they probably won't even notice there's no AC since it won't be 1,000 degrees! I just wanted to make sure everyone is as comfortable as possible. Kings Port Inn sounds like a great option though, I'll check it out. Thanks!
