DOC help...not sure what to do...(long)

So my wedding is in 26 days!! December 4th!
I wasn't planning on paying for a DOC because one of my sorority sisters is an event planner and said she would help me with this for free. Now what I’m realizing is that there are a few things that need to be done at the reception venue to make sure it’s all running smoothly and it would have to be during my ceremony at the church, which she has to be present at. I’m really stressing out about this because I didn’t budget this in at all and these past 2 weeks have incurred an additional 800 dollars that I wasn’t counting on due to lighting (the type of lighting I want isn’t uplighting per se but a color wash that will cost 200 more, I didn’t realize that the package I got with liquid dj’s didn’t include the modern booth so I had to add it, the cake vendor I fell in love with is 200 dollars over my budget, and the linen I was originally getting for free from my caterer isn’t the correct size or color…so I had to book brelex.
On top of all of that, they changed my contact at the Leiser center for the 3rd time and on Friday I spoke to the CEO and she isn’t that easy to work with. I was originally told that if there was no event the Friday before that I could go in and set up…well there is an event. I was also told they would give me some time before and some time after my 9 hours…they weren’t too strict on it. Well this lady isn’t having it and said that if I go over my 9 hours they will charge me 200 dollars per hour. Now that means that none of the vendors can start prepping until 2pm and my ceremony is at 3:30pm! That’s not enough time for my friend to ensure that everything is perfect and still have time to head to the church.  Can anyone give me any advice on what to do please? What is the cheapest rate you’ve found for a DOC? Help!!

TIA!!

Contact Jessi.  She is a former knottie that started a DOC business after her wedding and her rates are modest.  She'll probably be able to work with you too.

I was in your same predicament right before my wedding.  I found that the DOC that were recommended to me all wanted way too much money so my mom asked one of her friends from work if she wanted to help us out and earn some extra money.  It worked out great, I paid her $100 and she was there from the time the banquet hall opened setting up my favors, signing book, seating chart, etc.

Maybe you can find someone who isnt offiicially DOC that can help you out, ideally it should be someone who will not be attending the wedding.  Good luck!

Thank you ladies! I just emailed them.

Avee, you know exactly what I’m going through then. That would definitely be ideal. 100 or less or free lol. I can’t think of anyone I know that would want to do that without feeling offended for not being invited. I have to think some more about it and see who I can come up with. Thank you for the idea!
