i hired a photgrapher that is suppose to be a good friend and someone i went to high school with.  she did our engagement photos and she did a really awesome job!  we have also ordered something with her that we gave $220 in cash for to use for our centrepieces.  this item supposedly has been ordered but returned because it was damaged but she was suppse to re-order them.  it now has been over 2 months and i still have not seen this order and the bakery that is doing my cake & the florist would like to see them so they can show us how they will use them.  we have tried calling her and left her a couple of msgs, but she has not called us back.  can someone pleeeeaaassse give me a suggestion what to do.  thank you in advance!

    It's disappointing to hear that a good friend would do something like that to you.  In this case, unless she calls you back, I highly doubt you will get your items for your centrepieces, or your cash back.  Count it as a loss and see if you can order these pieces yourself.

    If she's doing your wedding photos, in order to save yourself some hassle and disappointment, I also suggest hiring another photographer.  I would consider you contract with her to be broken due to lack of communication.  If you have given her a deposit for her services for the wedding, you have the option of taking her to small claims court, but if it was a small deposit, it wouldn't be worth your time but ensure to report her to the Better Business Bureau.

    thanks for you reply jewel!  yes we have given her a $600 deposit, but she also took our engagement pictures so i'm not that worried about it.  plus i gave h er the $220 for the items she was going to order for our centrepieces.  i guess my biggest worry is about us breaking the contract because of the poor communication and she takes us to court.  plus what really bothers me is we choose her because i trusted her and she was someone i went to high school with.  no we aren't the best of friends but i considered her as a friend for sure.  i have totally lost confidence in her and right now i don't even want her to do my photos on the day of our wedding because i can't even trust if she will show up on our wedding.  this whole planning thing is suppose to be fun.  yes i know there is stress, but you make the best of it.

    Did you sign a contract with her?  If so, look carefully over it and see if there are any clauses regarding the ending of a contract, either by you or her.  If you don't have one, then there's no need to worry about her taking you to court.  She did not come through with the centrepieces and she's not returning your calls or communicating with you.   

    I think you are making the best of it - try her a few more times, if she doesn't return your calls or communicate with you at all - end the contract and find another photographer for your wedding day and alternate items for your centrepiece.

    the centrepiece thing was a verbal contract & the photography aspect was a written contract.  of my photos i'm still missing my 8x10 & my desk with our proofs.  i have truly learned my lesson from that.  i can always try to put her thru a collection agency.  but to be honest with you.  i don't even want to ask for the money back.  i just want to end it.  i've been so miserable because of this.  i will try another times just emailing her.  i am making sure to keep track.  if i do not get a response by the end of the weekend i will definately tell  her i am firing her.  i hired her to do a job, one she is not doing.  i am trying to make the best of it for sure.  i hate situations like this, and i would never do this to someone.  if you can't do it just say so.  i'm not going to get mad, but i may be disappointed.  but then it would be totally different because at least then she would be up front about it.
