garter-related questions

So, I'm planning on my FH doing the garter toss. I don't really know all that much about how weddings usually go, though, and I'm curious about a few things:

1. If you have a garter set (one to keep, one to throw), do you wear them both on the same leg, or each on a different leg, or put on the throwing one right before the toss, or what?

2. How high (on your leg) do you wear them if the groom is going to remove it with his teeth?

3. Did anyone here have problems with them sliding off, or the shape of it being obvious under the dress?

Its only as dirty as you make it. that being said dont give everyone a peep show.

-I asked this earlier and the wonderful advice given was to buy a nice garter for you and buy a cheap one to toss since you dont get it back and its cheaper.

-for the teeth thing just have it at your knee. If your FI is like mine this is probably his idea, let him have his jollies for a minute. Or you could play him and have it around your foot

-put it on right before the toss. That way no wondering where its traveled to in the intreium.

Definitely not. Most of my friends who were married in the past two years have not had them. Its a little vulgar (for lack of a better word) IMO.
My H and I both felt like the bouquet and garter toss were unnecessary. Especially when all but a few of my female friends were married.
Its torture to make the 3 single ladies stand there. Know what I mean?

I couldn't tell you the last time I saw the groom actually remove the garter, and I don't think I've ever seen someone remove it with his teeth. ICK! In general fewer and fewer couples are even doing the bouquet toss let alone the garter.

We did the garter toss. I wasn't really that into it, so I just bought one to toss. I had it just above my knee so it wouldn't fall down. He ended up acting out the foxy lady scene from Wayne's World! It made for a good laugh. My 18yo sister caught it, so the whole ordeal was pretty PG-13- no teeth or hands far up dresses or anything above the knee.

Its standard where im from - infact ive never been to a wedding where they DIDNT do it. It doesnt however have to involve teeth or anything racy, thats up to the couple, what theyre comfortable with and based on what they know about their guests...
I find it awesome when the groom gets really into it and has something funny or different planned, but like i said depends on your area and what your guests are like. My garter was custom made with an xbox theme...my Fi is a gamer, so I think hell get a kick out of it.

that and because it was custom made its custom fitted to my lower thigh..so I shouldnt have any problems with it sliding off

if your serious about it, maybe something to think about, especially if your an abnormal size..i have really tiny thighs so I pretty much had to

As for when to put it on... i had never really thought of it before, but after reading this, I will be putting it on before the toss!!

I find it really interesting that so many brides aren't doing the tosses... I guess I'm just more traditional than most modern brides. That being said, we are doing both tosses. However, I will not be letting him take it off with his teeth because like others said I think its pretty tacky and don't want my grandparents seeing that. I don't think just taking it off with his hands is a big deal though. Like someone else mentioned it depends on what you like and if you know there aren't many single men (and women for the boquet toss) on your guest list you may want to just consider skipping it. But it is tradition and as a girl who is very into tradition I feel like it would be strange not to do the tosses. I do like the suggestion of putting on the garter right before the toss! hadn't thought of that
