Going for my final fitting today!

And I've gained lots of weight, but I just don't care anymore.  Since moving back to Canada I've rediscovered CHEESE!!!!!!!

oh gouda and havarti and mozarella and old cheddar and brie apple sandwhiches..........

Still eating healthy but adding cheese to my diet has made me gain 10 lbs.

And my boobs are too big today... you know why, I'm sure.

So I'll be voluptuous and busting out of my dress like I belong in a back alley in Paris, but I'll post pictures soon!

Re: Going for my final fitting today!

  • Congrats!  and have fun, embrace those curves!!!
  • goodluck!!!!!!and big boobies rock!
  • Ok I'm back!  It went WONDERFULLY!  I was so excited, I forgot to bring the camera in, so I'm going to try to take some photos in the bedroom now.

When I put it on, everything felt wonderful, even though there was only the tiniest bit of boob cleavage (which will calm down next week).  I felt so beautiful, and if I can feel that way in a ponytail at this time of the month, then I'll be fine on my wedding day.

When I got back into the car, FI left to use the washroom, and I cried.  It feels SO REAL now.  I'm getting married so soon and I HAVE MY DRESS IN MY HANDS!

  • 10 photos!  This camera is so terrible.  The viewing screen doesnt work anymore, and that makes it almost impossible to take photos.  I think I took more photos of the curtains than anything else.

Anyway, here are the ones I got right!  (I couldn't get the dress done up at the top in the back, so keep that in mind... it's kinda lopsided and funny looking from the back)

    veil:

You can see that the veil is actually oval shaped, and will be slightly longer in the back.  It's a gorgeous length, and I can't believe how beautiful it looks with my dress.  This was the first time I saw them together!

  • Hubba hubba! It looks awesome... if you didn't have those curves then you wouldn't rock that dress nearly as hard. I really like the crinny too! But I don't think you are popping out at all so don't worry about that.

I'm pretty curvy/chesty and I really wanted to lose some weight but it hasn't happened so I've given up. Hourglass figures are beautiful so I'm just embracing it.

Thanks ladies!  I love my hour glass shape, I just wanted to be a little more toned.  When I gain weight, I really notice it in my face tummy and shoulders.  I don't mind the tummy so much, though.  I think those little pooches are so cute!  It's funny though.. I felt so ugly that day, and then as soon as I put that gown on... my whole attitude changed.  I guess that's how I know I chose the right dress!

It's true what you guys were saying about curvy girls embracing their curves.  Really, whether your skinny and small chested, or average, or voluptous, or whatever... you need to embrace and highlight your best assets and flaunt what your momma gave you!  Accepting your lovely self is the first step.  Choosing the right silhoette for your body type is the second.  Exuding confidence in your dress is third!  Encouraging other women who feel insecure is also paramount to promoting a healthy body image.  So thanks again ladies Kiss

  • Way to go Nukke!  You look stunning!  I think it's just the right amount of boob action, but that's just me.

How did you turn your crinny purple?  I'd like to turn mine black, but I don't know if that's a possibility.  I think mine is attached to my dress.  Would I have to buy one?

I'm trying to lose 10 pounds but it's not working either.  If it doesn't happen by my final fitting in November, oh well.  I'm actually not trying to lose it, I just say I want to, then I don't do anything to achieve that goal! ;)

You look so pretty in your dress.  Congrats!

  • Hey Portia!  Long time no see!

I used Dylon fabric dye for my crinny, some salt and hot hot water.    My dress came with a couple layers of crinny inside also, but I purchased additional (mermaid cut) crinny from underslips.com.  Then I dyed that crinny in my top load washer using the dye.

    It was easy peasy!

Do you think I could have it dyed somewhere? Or maybe I could do it at a laundromat....I'm scared to do it in my washer!

Also, do you think black would show through the white of my dress?  It's taffeta. I guess your purple doesn't show through...

EDIT:  Is yours sewn into your dress, or just worn as an underslip?

  • You really can do it on your own really easily.  If you buy one, I can walk you through it, just page me on here.

It's not sewn in, I wore it as a slip, and it has the added benefit of smoothing out underpants lines.  The upper half of the slip (of the mermaid ones) are a lycra blend and don't pick up dye very well.  So the top half of my slip is a very light lavender colour, and doesn't show through my (raw silk) dress at all.  Neither does it on the bottom, (especially because the dress has it's own barrier of white crinny).  Does that make sense?

The slips from underslips are nice because they have a liner behind the crinoline to keep the netting from scratching your legs.

    Makes sense.

My dress is a modified A-line, so fitte at the waist, with side rouching (sp?) through the top of the hip, then like a bell with a sweep train.  I should probably get a mermaid style too?  I don't want to add too much poof, just really the fun peek of color!

Maybe I could have my seamstress/cleaners dye it for me.  I'm just so nervous and not real crafty. :)

    Thanks Nukke!
