A tip for brides registering for Fiestaware at Macy's

I recently got married and registered for 12 place settings of Fiestaware in two different colors. At my shower, I received 10 settings, and saw that they had all been completed when I looked at my registry. I received 7 more settings from various people as wedding gifts. What I figured out was when Macy's has a buy 1 get 1 free sale on Fiesta settings, it doesn't mark off the second free setting on your registry apparently. So if you want 12 settings, perhaps only register for 8 and see how you do at your shower, and then add more settings to your registry before the wedding if you didn't get as many as you needed and save yourself the return headache.

  • Yikes!  Five extra settings is a lot, but I'd probably keep an extra or two.  When my cousin got married, she got a box with four extra plates; she mentioned taking it back until I reminded her that she accidentally breaks EVERYTHING.  "And you'll have kids...."

She agreed immediately to keep it.

  • This is a bit sucky, but ultimately you have to register for what you want. Guests will get you "extra" things no matter what you do, so I'm sure you'll end up making a trip to Macys either way!
  • I have given people gifts using the "buy one, get one free" promo at Macy's.  I was able to get it to count as "2 purchased" from the registry by calling the customer service.  I know that won't help the OP, but just an FYI to other gift-givers.
