Marriages over Skype?

Or any other services like that? Anyone ever done one? I have had some things come up with my basic trainging dates and my fiance is deployed. How can we make this possible? Anyone know of anything? Please help:( I had a little wedding planned, but its been cancelled I think.

    Sounds like you are going to miss your little wedding :( I'm sorry to hear this.. If you want to have it in person do it... If not, I know a couple that did the skype thing..

    Her Hubby was suddenly sent on a det (pilot) and they had all their wedding planned so she stood up with the computer and had the best man put the ring on her finger! I about died when I heard this but, hey, I suppose when you have a bunch of OOT guests that came for a wedding that is already planned to the t... Why waste all the money? hah...

    I have never heard of it done where BOTH are on skype.
    If you're from a state that requires witnesses, you will have to have the officient and the witnesses on the same call with you or your FI so thay they can all sign the certificate immediately. Maybe the one that doesn't have those people on that side can sign the certificate ahead of time and send it to the other, so that the day of it's all valid? Not 100% on that though...  :/

    Oh no!  I'm sorry to hear that.  Hopefully you guys can have a cute vow renewal with close family and friends when you get back, or at least a reception to celebrate with people.

    I don't know much about Skype weddings, but if you are still in the US, I'd advise you to ask your local courthouse for advice.  These rules tend to be very localized.

    If you are a resident of Chatham County, they won't allow it.  They require everyone be physically present for a wedding.  By Proxy weddings are illegal in Chatham County and most of the other counties around here.  I'm sorry.  It really sucks that you are having to deal with this right now.

    I just did a quick google search and proxy marriages are only allowed in several states, none that are close to Georgia. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Welcome to the boards though. I hope you can figure something out.
