Any brides getting married in Italy?

Please tell  me about your experience.  What vendors are you using? Planners? What are the costs for services? Any information you would like to share, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks

Re: Any brides getting married in Italy?

  • I am a Jamaica bride so no help with Italy...I know one person was looking into Italy, not sure if she is still lurking around.  Good Luck and congratulations!!

I truly hope you stick around and join the fun on the board!

  • I did not get married in Italy, but wondered what region you have chosen? Vendors, costs, and services will vary by region and by season.

  • We are getting married in Italy, but that is because my husband is Florentine and worked in hospitality, so he already knows all the vendors.  Therefore, planning has been pretty much minimal for me.  We're not getting married in the Palazzo Vecchio, but that's the traditional place to do it.  (Long story short, we were married three years ago in a civil ceremony and never had a chance to do the "big fluffy" because immigration makes that a hassle.  So we don't have to worry about legality or ceremony, really.)  And that is a very inexpensive option compared to American venues.

Our reception is at a hotel near the Ponte Vecchio with a view overlooking the city.  Since it's not a formal ceremony, I'm not bothering with bridesmaids, so all I really had to take care of was my own outfit, all of which I bought in the States.  I'm still looking for some small items that could work as favors at our reception, but since I'll be in Europe for several months before the wedding, I'll pick them up there.  Same for flowers.  I'm not sure what vendor I'm using for those yet.  Since there is no bridal party, I just need flowers for me and for my husband.  I'm not even really interested in centerpieces, but my mom is standing firm on that, so we'll have to figure that out too.
