Help! Reception Venues

Hi Everyone,

I just got engaged 2 weeks ago and we decided yesterday to have a destination wedding and then a cocktail reception here a couple weeks later!

I'm trying to look into some spaces to have the reception but I can't think of too many! I'm hoping for about 170 people, in either a restaurant or hall of some kind! I'm willing to do it on a Friday or Sunday night as well.

Any ideas?

I went to a wedding at Brassaii on King Street last year. If you're looking for something trendy and modern, it's a really cool place and the food is amazing. They have their courtyard area out front, and the actual restaurant too. I think that wedding had about 150 guests.

i'm going to a couple of weddings at the berkeley this summer. both weddings are about 150 people but that's a seated dinner. it will probably hold more for a cocktail reception. the carlu, botanical gardens, old mill, palais royale, and gladstone are some options i've heard of too.

    C5 at the ROM
    C Lounge
    Panorama at Manulife Centre
    Gallery Grill at Hart House
Balzac at the Distillery District (it's a coffee shop, you'll need to bring in a caterer)

The Richmond on Richmond St. in Downtown Toronto is a cool venue for a cocktail party.  Todmorden Mills (not sure of accomodation size), Argonaut Rowing Club, The Gladstone Hotel, The Bram and Bluma Appel Salon (attached to the Reference library, it just opened Sept 09), Peridot Lounge at on Bloor.....

I guess a good question to ask is...."What is your vision for your wedding day"....that always seems to be the question.

Antoher great space is the Roundhouse at the Steam Whistle Brewery - it's a great space and would be perfect for a cocktail reception.

Check out Auberge du Pommier - it's absolutely stunning.

You can also check out Le Jardin...food is sensational...
