Gowns in Raleigh/Cary

I'm looking for a nice place in the Raleigh/Durham/Cary area where they aren't very pricey.  Any good experiences?

This is a little out of the area, but a lot of Raleigh/ Durham brides go visit Bridalmart in Burington. They have a really good selection and good prices. I would recommend going on a weekday or sunday afternoon since they tend to be real busy on the weekends.

Also, Pearls Place and Jay's Bridals online offer really good deals on dresses. I got mine through Pearls place, and it saved me quite a bit.  So don't be afraid to go to some nicer, maybe more expensive places. if you find something you like, you can always call one on them up to see how they are pricing it.

I bought my dress at Lana Addison in Cary and had a really great experience. They are a little pricey - the gowns start at $1500 I believe - but they also run great sample sales, which is how I got my dress.

I will tell you this... I ended up purchasing at David's Bridal, but I found MUCH better service at the David's Bridal in Greenville NC.  I went back for a second visit to shop again because I visited the Durham store and had a not-so-great experience.  So, it all depends on the consultants you get.

I also shopped at Bridal Mart... went on a Sunday the first time, and expected it to be a zoo, and it was.  We wanted it that way, though, because I had 3 in my group and we just didn't want to be bothered.  BUT... I went back on a Monday and got one-on-one and sometimes two-on-one service from them.  I found a close 2nd to the dress I ended up choosing, and had I liked that one better I would have been back at Bridal Mart to order it.  Again, it all depends on your consultant.

I've heard a lot about Alexia's, and I would have gone there but they were very condescending to me when I started asking if they carried sample gowns in plus sizes (I'm talking 18, 20, 22 at the most), and they just were like "we don't carry any dresses above size 10, and we'll just have to hold the dress up in front of you, etc).  I felt very offended and I personally would not shop there after the phone conversation I had, but again, that also was dependent on the particular consultant that day.

    Good luck with your search!!

I had a great buying experience at Victorian Rose Bridals in Raleigh!  However, their alterations department doesn't have the best reputation so I'm using Olga for alterations!

I'd second Victorian Rose Bridal. The prices are great for the designers they carry. My dress was a little less than $900, but they had dresses that went up to $4,000 on the day I was there. If you're looking for something even less expensive (where the majority of gowns are under $1,000) I would also recommend A Bridal World in Raleigh. It doesn't look like much, but the consultants are incredibly helpful, and the dresses are a better quality than Davids Bridal, if that's important to you.
