Back Fat / Arms

Hi girls!  I wanted some advice on toning, which I haven't really tried to do before.  I'm not overweight, but I've always had some issues in the upper arm area....what are some good exercises for toning the back of the upper arm?  I've also always had a weird amount of fat on my mid back that I'd like to eliminate before the honeymoon - it's right at the under-the-bikini-string area.  What works well for this exercise-wise?

I'm already starting with a healthier diet, but I can't cut my calories by too too much because my dress fit perfect in the size I ordered and serious alterations aren't in the budget!  So just looking for some exercise advice from wiser ladies:)  Thanks!

  • Rowing and/or push ups.

  • I have the same problem areas as you - I actually hired a personal trainer to help me for the wedding...we do a lot of arm exercises with medium sized weights - make sure you do at least 3 sets of 15....I am also in a normal weight range, just looking to lose some fat - I sarted a strict low carb diet where the only carbs I get are from fruit but I can pretty much eat as much as I want.  It's working so well - it's tough, but the wedding is great motivation! Good Luck :)

I agree with these girls on the number of reps and types of exercises for arms, but I -- while only lifting weights twice a week for probably 10 minutes tops -- have made my back too wide for my dress. I have achieved no back fat and no side boob/underarm fat, but my shirts ride up and I can barely close my dress. I'm 115 pounds and I'm going to have to take my dumb bells down from a meager 5 lbs to a pathetic 3 lbs and not lift for as long. It's a first-world problem, I realize, but I am pissed I made my dress fit so strangely!

  • Wow Ellen!  Thanks for the warning!  I'll buy a tape measure and measure weekly during these workouts so I keep track of how wide I'm getting.  I never would have thought of that!

Thanks girls!  I start the weight training today!

  • I have been working out with a personal trainer for a couple of months and he has been getting me to use kettle bells 8 and 12 pounds not to heavy but a lot of repetitions to burn fat and tone up and I have noticed my arms have really toned up and the fat under my bra is straps is going. No bulk in fact  I am a bit smaller around my sholulders and chest area..The other thing is that I have cleaned up my diet, I am probably eating more but I have cut out all refined carbs abd alcohol.

However I want to get a bit more definition in my arms and shoulders, any suggestions, for quick results I am getting married in May
