TGIF!

What's everyone up to this weekend?  I don't have any big weekend plans.  I have a feeling it'll turn into a big (expensive) weekend, though, because it's our friend's bday and this friend likes to go out!  Oh well, it'll be fun at least!  I would like to have a little time to get some cleaning done.

Re: TGIF!

  • TGIF indeed!  FI and I are going to get our marriage license today, which is prety exciting!  I'm trying to get a bunch of little projects done before the wedding, and want to make sure to get my thank-you notes for shower gifts out by sometime next week.

Tomorrow is homecoming for FI's alma mater, and I'm pretty excited to have something to take my mind off of wedding stuff for a day or two!
  • I'm super excited that my FI is coming back tomorrow night after being gone for 10 days, it's the longest we've been apart since we started dating.  I am very proud of myself that I kept myself occupied enough to not miss him too much.  Tomorrow morning my MOH and I are going to look at BM dresses to get an idea of exactly what color I want and prices.
On Sunday I am going to a wedding at the church that I'm getting married at.  I have never been to a wedding there so I just wanted to see what one looked there.  The bride is the youth minister for the parish and I was very active in the group when I was younger.  I am super excited for that.
Monday is just going to be a do nothing day, possibly starting to address the save the dates.

    Enjoy your long weekend ladies!
  • Erin, your wedding is SO CLOSE!  I'm so excited for you :)  And Susie, I loved shopping for BM dresses.  I hope you have fun!

Am I the only person who doesn't have a long weekend?

  • I don't either - is there a holiday or something on Monday?
  • Resa, you are not alone, the courts have Monday off but my law firm does not :(

My sister is coming to town tonight for my second dress fitting and my bachelorette tomorrow, I am so excited.  She moved to Memphis after her college graduation, so I haven't seen her since June!

I also had a friend offer to host a bridal shower (I didn't think anyone was going to since all my family and BMs are out of town) so now I am super excited for that in two weeks too.

  • Yay Friday!! Although since I'm not working yet the days don't so much matter...

I'm all moved into the new city :) FI and I have a friend's housewarming party on Saturday, and are about to go exploring today- otherwise, no big plans. The party should be fun, though, sort of a mini-reunion of law school kids and hopefully some new friends as well.

    Enjoy the weekend!!

  • Whee! I'm excited for this evening. My H and I get to go to a nice banquet for an organization he belongs to, and C is hanging out with grandma and grandpa! It will be a nice little date/night out. Plus, it's always fun to have an excuse to dress up. :)

  • Bilbio, that sounds fun!

So lately I've been noticing some hair loss.  This morning in the shower, I lost several clumps...not HUGE clumps, but not normal, either.  I'm getting kinda worried about it!  It's probably hormonal....it seems like everything is pointing to hormone imbalance for me these days.

  • Resa,
Low Key weekends are nice sometimes. They don't fly by so quickly.

Eee! Sounds like things are falling into place, Erin. :)
Can't wait to hear all the details!

Susie, Bridesmaid dresses are fun to look at. Do you have any ideas in mind?

As for me, 3 day weekend!

I'm going out with my church group tonight, and then have a Dance exam Saturday at 3:00 (Prayers I pass with a great grade would be appreciated!)

Sunday is my Flower Girl's birthday. I'm buying her a La La Loopsy doll. They're so cute, and my inner 6 year old loves them. So we'll be driving to my futer sister-in-law's house for that. It's more South Jersey, so it takes over an hour and a half to get there. FI and I usually crank the music and just enjoy the ride.

Monday I have a hair cut and hair trial, and Tuesday is my first dress fitting!!

I made my post and then all these other comments came through. Sounds like everyone has some good things planned.</div><div>
</div><div>Regarding hair loss, it definitely sound hormonal. It could also be stress or diet changes.</div>

  • Yay for dress fittings and bridal showers!  I really enjoyed all of that, it really made the whole thing start to feel "real."

Biblio - enjoy your date night!  You're lucky to have grandma and grandpa close by to take care of C for you.  I don't know what we'll do once we have kids, neither of our sets of parents live closer than 3-4 hours away, and I know it'll take me a long time to get comfortable leaving my baby with other people.  Not that my friends aren't perfectly capable, and I'll have to get over that for day care anyway, but I just know i'll be super over-protective right away, and wish my mom lived close by!

Resa - hope you get everything figured out!  Have you mentioned it to your doctor at all?

Even with my in-laws, it was really hard the first time I left her. We've only left her a few times, but it has gotten progressively easier. I think this is the first time I feel 100% comfortable, perhaps because we've had this on the calendar for awhile, or maybe because the last time went so well.

Resa, it definitely sounds like hormones to me. I had what I guessed (and now confirm because it's pretty much the same) to be postpartum-type hairloss when my hormones were out of whack last fall.

  • Well, I'm having tons of hormone testing these days, so hopefully they'll catch it!

I always feel for the women who have to go back to work full-time when their baby is only 6 weeks old.  That must be so hard.

  • as a holder of a cushy goverment job i have Monday off.  I was planning to golf, but they are forecasting rain....all weekend .... blah.

no big plans, although im trying to hook up with friends in boston for dinner sunday night.
  • Yay for days off and date nights!

I had to break up a near-fight in my classroom.  That was just the start of a day full of students with terrible attitudes.  I'm stress-eating to cope.  =(  I'm just really glad I have one more class and then I can go home and relax.

We don't have Monday off, but Wednesday is a professional day (so no school for the kids) and Thursday and Friday are Fall Break AND Thursday we leave for Newport for H's best friend's wedding!  I just.can't.wait.  I feel a little selfish in wishing that H (who is the best man) didn't have to spend so much time doing wedding stuff so we can go out and act like tourists.  But one of my bridesmaids is also going to be there and her boyfriend is also in the WP so we're going to spend all kinds of time catching up while the boys go do boy things.

  • Fall break?!  I thought that was just for college students?  Newport is AMAZING, and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'm getting crabby...too many political/controversial posts on FB.  Even when I essentially agree with someone, I get annoyed at how some people seem to have a major lack of respect for others.

<div>It's pretty new to me, too.  At my old district, only the kids got any kind of break (we had a conference day) until last year, when they decided to give the teachers a day off as well.</div><div>
</div><div>I've joked that my decision to work at this particular school MAY have been influenced by the fact that Fall Break lined up with the days I was going to have to take off anyway to go to this wedding.  =)</div>

  • Oh my goodness, TGIF indeed, my week bordered on ridiculous but it looks like things are settling down for now. Mister and I are supposed to go out to celebrate our anniversary at some point this weekend but we don't know when yet and I get to meet my my friends'/neighbors' new baby girl! And I am not going to say anything about my family being sick or well at this point for fear I will jinx it!
