Bridal Shower dress

Alright ladies.... HONEST thoughts on this dress?? I found someone who is selling it in my size (small/4).  I liked that it has white but isn't all white because I will definitely not be tan for the shower (I might go for 2 weeks before the shower/ bachelorette party but I'm pretty fair skinned.  I think it'd be cute to shorten to the knee at some point and wear it as a cocktail dress too. I can get it for $140 with shipping, but I'm usually so cheap so it's still a pretty tough pill for me to swallow.

Re: Bridal Shower dress

  • I love the dress but it is quite pricey.  The only good thing is that you can wear it again on your HM or to another wedding eventually.  I saw a lot of similar dresses online, so I would shop around a bit! :)  I saw this one and its similar in the strapless, sweetheart style.. it would be cute for a size 4 :)  shopruche.com

  • It's a pretty dress but it seems way too formal for a bridal shower dress.  Maybe if it wasn't a floor length dress and maybe just above the knee I could see it for a bridal shower.  You also don't want to be too over dressed for a bridal shower.  I've never been to a bridal shower where everyone was dressed so formally.  I would maybe opt for something a little more simple and understated for a bridal shower dress.  However, this is my own opinion so please don't take it to heart.  If you are in love with this dress and want to spend the money on it, then I say go for it!  In the end it's not about what anyone else thinks but you :)
  • If you're in love with it, go for it! But I do tend to agree with PP that it's a little formal and very pricey if you don't normally spend that much on clothes! I'll probably end up wearing some sort of sun dress or capris to mine. ;-)
  • I voted other because while I would spend $140 on a dress that I liked, you don't seem convinced. It's a beautiful dress and if it's in your budget, then there is no reason NOT to buy it. But if it's going to stress you out, I think you can find other options (I'm about to put up my shower dress in another thread.)

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Thanks for the feedback-- I've never been to a bridal shower so I had no idea they're not formal at all. Mine will be held at a martini bar, so I know capris/ jeans wouldn't work, but maybe a more casual dress would work.  Ahhh I don't know!!

adrienne- I like that dress but I'm really trying to find something other than black.  I already wear a lot of black, especially when it comes to dresses, so that's the ony color I was trying to avoid a lot of.  But thank you for the idea!!

  • I feel like the print is too much for a long dress...it would look great at knee length though.

<div>I agree with this. Also, if you're not sure about it, I wouldn't spend the $140.</div>

  • My vote is other. While I like the dress, I agree with PP, if you don't love it how it is, and are planning on shortening it, why spend that much money on a dress you are just going to change? But if you love it! Go for it girl! It's your bridal shower! :)

  • I voted other for a couple reasons. $140 seems like a lot unless you really feel like you'll get a lot more out of it, but you don't sound totally in love with it either. That's especially why I think it's too much. That being said, I think there is a whole lot of print going on, it's kind of a lot to look at. However, if you shortened it to your knee, I think it would look a thousand times better. Either way, it's your shower, so whatever makes you happy and comfortable. :)

  • If you love it wear it.  I think it's too formal but could be cute if shortened for the shower.
