Another Shower Question

My mom and aunt are throwing me a shower. I'm getting married at the end of July but the best time we can do the shower is in May. I did not do STD cards. Everyone who is invited to the shower knows of our wedding date by word of mouth. Is it tacky to send out shower invites before sending out the wedding invites? My aunt will be sending out the shower invites in April and I wasn't planning on sending the wedding invites until May - following the 6 week rule.

    I don't think that would be all that strange. Not ideal, but whatever. If you're worried about it, your aunt could make some "fine print" type note of the actual wedding date on the shower invitations.

    I don't see anything wrong with that. My aunt planned a shower for me that was months before my wedding. There was no way I was going to send out invitations 3-4 months early just because of that. Just make sure that all of her guests are indeed on your guestlist and you will be good to go.

    My shower will be way before I send out invites too! I agree with PPs, just make sure any/all guests for the shower have been/will be invited to the wedding! :)

    Both my showers will be before invites are sent out, so I don't think it matters!

    I think it's actually pretty common to have this situation, so I definitely wouldn't worry about it.  Just make sure those invited to the shower are sent wedding invites at the appropriate time.

    I agree with everyone else. My sister will be sending out my shower invitations before the wedding invitations. I just gave her a list of who to invite to be sure no one was invited to the shower who was not on the wedding invite list.
