Hotel Blocks?

Does anyone have any suggestions on hotel blocks? I don't want any that are in the quarter- maybe closer to the river. My wedding will be at the Columns Hotel towards the Garden District. I'm looking for some hotels that will be easy to take the street cars to the wedding- but close to downtown/french quarter.
Any suggestions will be appreciated!

    Mine is at the Westin at Canal Place.  So far I have been very happy working with them.  I'm not sure if it is the location you are looking for but there is a street car stop right behind it in front of the Aquarium.

    Hampton Inn on St. Charles right by the Columns.  I've stayed there many times.  It's a great hotel - the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever been to - and includes free breakfast.

    There is the embassy suites on julia street.  Its really nice and they serve a great breakfast buffet.
    Also Le Pavillon on poydras.  My friend had her wedding block there and her guests loved the hotel.

    If you don't want a hotel in the quarter, but still want to be close to the quarter, I would look at the hotels on Poydras.  There are a lot of really nice hotels, and you are still within walking distance to the streetcar and the french quarter.

    I second looking at hotels on Poydras.  I have my room block at the W on Poydras and they've been great to work with.

    Our block is at the Hilton Riverside.  And i totally agree! the W is wonderful!
