Some favor ideas?

I've just started giving it some thought this morning. I have a couple ideas knocking around in my head. What do you think?

Ice cream scoops - - cute, whimsical, and we're having a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar instead of a cake so it will be kinda fitting

My homemade jams/preserves/salsas - - I like the idea that people will definitely use them and they're totally Martha Stewart-y and personal, but it would be taking on a massive amount of work in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Jars of honey - - nice for summer, kinda similar to the jams in that it's food but it won't require the same amount of work

What do you guys think? And what's everyone else thinking of?

  • Doing something that is edible is always a plus!  I love the jam/preserves/salsas idea along with the honey... Depending on the time frame and who you can get to help you I would say honey is the easiest way to go. There are so many cute ways you can dress up the jars.

  • I like the preserves idea!  My sister is having homemade preserves made by her FMIL as favors for her wedding in July.

  • I like the honey idea, mostly because it's less work than the jam/preserves.  We're doing koozies, since they're super popular around here.  And budget-friendly (like 200 of them for $100)

  • I like the edible idea too, less likely to be left behind. TBH, nobody wants coasters with your picture in them :-P

I won't be doing favors, but might have small boxes out for people if they want to take donuts home from our donut bar :-)

  • I love the jam/jelly idea or the ice cream scoop!

Right now I am decided on topiary place card holders, and then having a photo booth to send each guest a photo in their thank you card.
I have toyed with the idea of doing a midnigt snack as a favor, or plantable seed cards or even photo coasters that will double as escort cards...
    Kinda stuck to..

We are having a photo booth so we're doing photo booth frames as the favor/place card holder.

We're doing the photo booth too! My family has never had such a favor, so we thought it would be cute! Plus they can take as many pictures as they want.

My photographer has known my family for quite a long time and I had asked what the cost of the photo booth was and he told me no charge and threw it in as a wedding gift for us.

  • We are doing two favors. Everyone knows that I love to cook, almost obsessed. I grow my own herbs that most of my friends/family are always asking for cuttings of. So, we are doing potted herbs in terracotta pots that I'm writing on with terracotta markers "Nick Amber Seasoned with love 5/18/13" Then, as an edible although they technically will be both edible favor, we are doing jumbo marshmallows half dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with crushed Graham crackers and we are scorching the other half with a lighter and putting them on a stick "s'mores on a stick"!! Our wedding is being held at a camp ground technically there are only cabins, no tent camping.. But same thing

  • We're doing a small candy bar with candy in our wedding colors, so the guests can make their own goodie bags.
  • We're getting married at a vineyard, so I think we're going to go with wine glasses.
I'm hoping to get the glasses they give out with the tastings, since they have the name of the vineyard and then figure out a way to get our names and wedding date etched on to them...but not sure if they'll let us do that.
If not, we'll just get some plain glasses and do something on those.

Thank you for all of the links!!!

We had our hearts set on one vineyard about an hour away from us, but it was WAAAY out of budget (about half our wedding budget, to be exact). We actually found this vineyard because of a stranger we met at a wine festival. This vineyard offered a significantly lower price for a weekday wedding, so we booked it for the Thursday before Memorial Day!

  • I really like the ice cream scoops! Especially if it ties in with your reception. I actually have one from my uncle's wedding. It's cute!

I also like the jam idea - but like you said, it could be a lot of work leading up to the wedding - but if you had the time, a cute idea!

We're planning on doing homemade vanilla extract for ours. Planning on getting it started in the brewing stages around September/October and can get them bottled well enough in advance (and they won't go bad!).

  •           I think that you all have fantastic idea. I am going with the wine glass, I am going to personalize them myself. We will have our initals on the front of the glasses along with a little ribbon that matches our colors and a crystal for the color of May. On the reverse side of the glass it will have our wedding date.

My attendants will be more personlize glasses with maid of honor or brides maid on it.

    Hello all :)

My fiance and I are kind of, well, geeky.  For a lot of in-joke reasons the perfect favor at our wedding is going to be tiles from the Periodic Table of Elements with our wedding information on the back.  (Trust me, if you know us or watched us fall in love, it's high-larious.)  I was thinking keychains.

Trouble is, I canNOT for the life of me figure out where to get ones that won't look ridiculously cheap for anything like a reasonable price.  Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance :)
    Kira
