Save the Date etiquette

I'm getting ready to send out STD's and was wondering what the etiquette is on addressing them? Does it really matter if it's formal or not since the wedding invitations will be pretty formal? Do I include my guest's full first and last names? Do I include boyfriends names as well? And do I address grandparents as grandma and grandpa, aunt sue, etc..? Thanks

    We only sent STD's to our "must haves" - close family, close friends, wedding party. 

    We addressed them casually, but our invitations were addressed formally. For STD's we did "Jane and John Smith" but for invitations it was Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. I did not address anything to "grandma" or "aunt so and so". I used their actual names.
