**Ainslie**

Hi,

Congrats on the wedding!  I have a friend who is getting married next year and is really considering the Red Lion.  I was wondering if you could tell me (either here or offline) how your experiance was with them, as she loves the space.

TIA!!

    Hi Beth,

Organization and communication was terrible on their end throughout the planning process.  I worked with three different wedding coordinators during my nine month engagement.  The first seemed competent, the second was awful, and the third seems the most capable of all (Elizabeth-- she is still there).  Initially, phone calls and emails were not returned, the coordinator wouldn't problem solve with other areas of the inn (bookkeeping, reservations, etc.), and her supervior seemed unclear (in other words, there was no one to complain to).

Once the ownership became aware of the problems all of his brides were having, he became actively involved in solving them (dismissing the problematic employee, bringing in someone attentive, cleaning up the messes she created, etc.).  Our largest snafus: the room I was staying in the night before our wedding was given away so that the departing cordinator could book a Friday night wedding the day before mine.  This the owner made right by providing a lovely space for the entire morning of the wedding in which I and all of my girls got ready complete with coffee, tea, pastries, and juices.  Also, my guestbooks were misplaced following the reception (they've yet to find them, which is extremely disappointing to us).

All planning irritations to one side, the reception was wonderful.  Our guests were wowed by the venue and the food, and everyone had a great time.  For as frustrating as the turnover and terrible communication was, the owner made a great effort to make us feel valued and looked-after, and, given the outcome on the day, I'd do it again.

Some teaser photos are posted on my photog's blog at http://heatherparker.com/blog.  We're "New England Barn Wedding."

Thank so much!  Sorry to hear that you had a hard time, but glad it all worked out!  Amazing is what I have to say on the pics.

My friend got an odd feeling and didn't really connect so she I think is going to go with a different venue.

    Thanks so much.
