Wedding Photography HELP

Since this is the CT board you all know things around here aren't the cheapest, just wondering what you all think is a reasonable wedding photography price. I have gotten the ranges $4000 to $5000, it sounds like a lot but I guess you get what you pay for and I don't want to go cheap on photos. Most packages include an engagement session, six to eight hrs of photography on the day depending on the photographer, a second shooter, and one or two meets not including the engagement session, as well as a CD with all the proofs, and some include an album.
Any recommendations for photographers in CT?
Is this too much money???

Looking at No Eye Has Seen, Candance Jeffrey, Studio 1923, BCS, Brian Ambriose, etc...

Thanks!

Re: Wedding Photography HELP

  • Try HK Photography, they are popular on this board and for good reason! They are absolutely amazing, professional and outstanding photographers.  They provide 2 professional photographers, unlimited hours on your wedding day, all rights to photos, engagement photos, and they are less than the range you have listed. I personally think that 4000-5000 is a little too much.  Good luck!!

check out TAB Photographic-- www.tabphotographic.com (also find him on Facebook for more recent work!). Tim is great and really talented, and is def. more affordable than those $4000-5000 ones. That's just too much money in my opinion. I mean I'm sure they're great... but there are photographers around here that do really great work for almost half the price. You get engagement pics, rights to all the photos, basically full day coverage, etc. Good luck!

  • Definitely meet with Studio 1923! They have been fabulous to work with and I can't say enough good things.

I am paying less than the price range you gave and am getting rights to all of the photos, an engagement session, 2 shooters, unlimited hours of shooting on the wedding day, and an album.

  • Yes the price range that you list is a bit high.  There are plenty of photographers here in CT with wonderful talent that offer complete packages at a lower budget.  I've been researching some and the basic packages run between 2000-3500.  But yes- you get what you pay for... if you want an all-inclusive package with an engagement sitting, proofs album, 2 shooters, online albums, slideshows, etc, this is going to cost you much more than a more basic package.

We are using HK too! Can't wait.

If you are looking to have the rights to pics AND albums, you are going to pay more. We were looking for the rights to the pics and will make our own albums, so much cheaper!
  • Check out Michelle Ferro. She is awesome and her prices are usually pretty good. Ferrophoto.com

  • Candance Jefferey is amazing!  I love her!  She did my friend's wedding and she did one of my engagement shoots.  She has a great personality and is easy to work with.  Her photos are amazing!

  • We're spending about 4,000 and that included engagement, 2 shooters for 9 or 10 hours I can't remember which, an album, etc. We're using Uplift Photography.

I think you can find a huge range in terms of prices for photography so its just a matter of finding one who'se style/price matches what you want. I'd say 5K+ is on the very high end.

Definitely check out fabuluxe photos. Claudia and her husband Jorge are amazing and so easy to work with. We're playing 3100, that included an engagement session, plus 10 hours (she stays as long as you need her to though) on the wedding day. Rights to photos, two shooters and a bunch of other goodies.

Her style is more photojournalist and modern. Plus she traveled all the way to NYC to take me and FI's pictures free of charge. You wont be disappointed.

  • Laur110 I actually looked into Studio1923 and they are at $5000 ($3800 for the associate photographer but she is booked)!

HK looks good, just contacted them.

Anyone used or know of anyone who has No Eye Has Seen? Thanks!
  • I have heard good things about Ferro photography, but ended up looking for photographers in MA and RI because I want to pay less than $2k. I ended up going with DB Photography from RI. I'm getting 2 photographers for 8 hrs, an engagement session, and a DVD with all rights for under $2,000.

  • try looking at http://www.pixgsp.com/weddings.html. GSP Fine Photography did great work for my wedding and they were resonably priced. they have a bunch of different packages for wedding photography.
  • $4-5K is a lot but you're right about the get-what-you-pay-for thing. There are a few exceptions- I like to think I hired one of them. Here are a few choices in order of most expensive to least:

Eric Limon Photography (starts at $4500) but beautiful work!
Geneve Rege (between $3800 and $4300)
Portrait New England ($1500-$3500)- my photographers!

It's only too much money if you can find someone who does the same thing (without sacrificing quality) for less.
  • Definitely check out Eric Brushett. His prices are reasonable and he will work with you on creating a custom package so you can get everything you want that day for a price you can pay. If I remember correctly, he includes everything you want for $3,000, but you can obviously customize it if you want. His site is www.ericbrushett.com
  • We are using TimeFrozen photography and they are amazing!  but i just saw RAW lowered their prices to about $3200, which is amazing cause when i aspoke to them last year they charged $4500 which was WAY out of our range.  Timefrozen is great you get 2 photopraphers all day minimim of like 700 images etc etc.and a coffee table book which they customize with you.  they are about $3k, and since they are husband and wife their style works well with each other.  check them out on FB for wedding snippits.

  • I know you said you looked into Studio1923 but we are also using them and I cannot recommend them enough!  Jen is very prompt at responding to emails and Jerome is absolutely amazing!!!!!! My cousin has been using him for 4 years now (engagement, wedding, 2 kids).  I actually made sure he was available for my wedding before I booked my venue.  I cannot say enough wonderful things about them.  My brother just got engaged on Christmas and his FI has already contacted him about next year even though they haven't even started planning.

We are using Matthew J Wagner in Simsbury...and have been very happy so far!! Our package includes engagement session, full day of wedding, 2 photographers, a cd of all photos, and an album. He has a really nice office in Simsbury, and takes the time to sit and talk with you and even offers wine!

  • Cannot say enough about how amazing Studio1923/ Jerome is!!!   From our first meeting, I knew Jerome and Jen were perfect.  My husband raves about him too.  Definitely meet with them.  We loved our e-pics, wedding pics, AND WIOMT (Wear it One More Time).  And I can't say enough about how awesome Jerome was throughout the wedding day.
  • I am using Brooke Allison Photography, and it is about $3000.  She is amazing! and that includes an engagement shoot, two photographers on wedding day for 9 hours and dvd with all the pictures.
  • We met with HK and loved Hubert and Alka, theyre both so sweet! The only reason we didnt book them was because i fell in love with the album from BSC Photo, and those guys are great!!! Plus we're a rowdy tattooed bunch, and Mike and Matt just seemed like theyd fit our group well.

  • Has anyone looked at Kiernan Photography out of the Branford/Guilford area?  They were recommended to me by 2 people but any other opinions are great!  My fiance and I are not very photogenic so we need photographers who aren't going to spend tons of time putting us in super cheesy poses, I can guarentee the pictures won't come out well, LoL.  I really really wanted to go with Raw, but a. I think it's going to cost too much and b. they are already booked for the dates we're looking at.

We just used Catherine Fiehn and are on her website slideshow. Her website is http://www.catherinefiehnweddings.com   Yes, you get what you pay for just because a photorapher is 4-5k does not mean they are any good. Look and compare.  BTW highly recommend her!
  • Hi you can try a love story photography... Very good photography and reasonable prices :) I used them :) alovestoryphoto.com Best, Bree
