wi wedding reception sites on a lake

Hello everyone,

My boyfriend and I just got engaged a few days ago.  We are looking for wedding ceremony/reception site on a lake or at least with a view of a lake/water.  We would prefer to have the ceremony outdoors and the reception inside.   We are looking more for southern Wisconsin but would also consider the Green Bay/Door County areas as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Seven Seas in Delafield.  I think it's on Nagawicka Lake.

There are several sites in Milwaukee on Lake Michigan or with views of Lake Michigan.

I got married on the roof of the Monona Terrace in Madison.  Our reception was in a big room with windows over looking the lake, it was amazing.

In Madison you can also get married at the East Side Club, which has nice views of the capitol.  The Edgewater Hotel does rececptions for sure, but I am not sure about ceremonies.

That was my requirement too- we ended up with Lakefront Brewery in Milwauke- its on the river, but more in our price range than most places on the lake, and we loved it!

I have a friend that got married at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay (DC)...her wedding was one of the most beautiful I have attended!! If you want to see pictures, PM me.
My favorite place in Door County is called Cave Point County Park.  It is GORGEOUS! if you were looking for a unique outdoor wedding, that is the place to be!

I would also recommend the Monona Terrace in Madison! The site for the ceremony is gorgeous. Also, my cousin got married at Kirsch's Restaurant in Lake Geneva. It's on a lake, and their ceremony was outside right by the water. It was really lovely.

There are lots of places on or near Lake Geneva. The Riviera, The Abbey, and several others.

Ditto what PP's said.  There's also a place in Franksville/Kansasville  Eagle Inn On the Lake.

Where exactly in Wisconsin are you looking? Southern Wisco is pretty big. :) Kenosha/Racine?  How many people are you looking to host?

Abbey Springs in Fontana, WI (other side of Lake Geneva).  I'm having my ceremony on their tented patio right next to the lake.  You can also use the tented patio as a reception area if your guest list is around or under the 120 mark.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions, I will look into them.  I am looking near the madison/milwaukee area but I love the beauty of Door County with the lakes and lighthouses.  We probably will have around 100-150 people so not too many.  Definitely price will be taken into consideration, I looked at the Grand Geneva resort and the national geneva gold club both were much too pricey.  I found Abbey Springs website but do you have to be a member there to get married there?  Thank you everyone for your help!  I really appreciate it.

You could also look into the Heidel House in Green Lake...I looked into it a little, not much--but pretty sure they do outdoor ceremonies and have a large ballroom for the reception.

South Shore Pavillion in Milwaukee, depending on the size of your guest list it might be a little small, but it's lovely and has an amazing view (and outdoor ceremony site) looking into the Harbor.  Only down side, it's a public building in a park so people may be coming in to use the restrooms.

The Osthoff or Victorian Village in Elkhart Lake

We had our wedding at the Heidel House, they have a gorgeous lakeside ceremony location and a number of reception rooms to choose from. Lots of beautiful picture locations right at the resort as well.

I would also suggest The Osthoff, it's beautiful but pricey. We almost booked our wedding at the Landmark in Egg Harbor but they do not have a lakeside ceremony site, the resort is on a hill overlooking the lake however.

I am the event coordinator at The Quilted Bear in Germantown, WI.  We have a facility for a ceremony and reception on a small private pond with a gazebo, fountain, and a gorgeous backdrop for pictures and the ceremony.  I would love to send you more informaion if you are interested.

Congratulations and Good luck with the planning!

You do not have to be a member to get married at Abbey Springs down in Lake Geneva!

Mhills, vendors are not allowed on the site.  You'll have to remove your post.

I had an outdoor ceremony on the grand staircase in Lake Park which overlooks Lake Michigan.  We then had the reception indoors at the Lake Park Bistro.  It was beautiful and the atmosphere and food was amazing.

Although the Lake Park Bistro is very expensive for an evening reception they do offer a Saturday morning/afternoon reception which is far more reasonably priced.  I believe the max is around 145 people so it's not for large weddings.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.
