where to have my wedding in the quarter??

Help! I'm conflicted! I can't decide where to have my wedding/reception? It's between the Omni Royal and the Royal Sonesta. It will be an outside wedding with the guest list around 100. Anybody have any opinions or experiences with either hotel. Good or bad? We don't live in New Orleans so any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much, Allison:)

They are both beautiful properties! I looked at the Omni only, but have stayed at the Royal Sonesta. Very good service. THe Royal Sonesta is right in the heart of the Bourbon Street action... if that is something that interests you.
The Omni is nearby but would be a block or two walk to the action. THe outdoor space in the Omni is on the roof so it didn't have the Courtyard feel to it that I was looking for. I found a picture of it on a local florists website that I have attached below. The space adjacent to the courtyard is small, so you would have 3 separate rooms to accomodate that size of a party. They do have a lovely ballroom though.

I ended up booking the Ritz Carlton on canal and bourbon for its beautiful courtyard and ballroom
    Good luck!

You don't say how many guests you are having.  We looked at both the Omni and the Royal Sonesta.  The event coordinator at the Royal Sonesta was very helpful but we were concerned about seating for the number of guests.  The courtyard has a fountain right in the middle and we were concerned about obstructed views for the 125 guests we are having.  There was a ballroom that would have worked but that wasn't what we wanted.

We liked the Omni but are concerned that being on the roof, the courtyard was more exposed.  Our wedding is at the end of February 2012.  My daughter is planning a trip to NOLA next week and will make her final decision then.

I looked at both venues for my reception.  The contact person at the Omni Royal was organized, nice, helpful, easy to get in touch with, etc.  The contact person at the Royal Sonesta never once returned a phone call or an e-mail.  When I finally went to New Orleans to meet with her in person, she made up a bunch of excuses.  While she was nice, her lack of professionalism was the reason I ultimately didn't go with Royal Sonesta.

    Hope this helps.
