bra or sewn in cups

So I have little ta tas (34B) and someone mentioned to me that I should wear the sewn in cups as oppsed to an actual bra. Does anybody have any opinions on this? My dress is sweetheart strapless and I had planned on wearing a bra from vs with those chicken cutlets to give me at least some boobage for my wedding day. Can you still do the cutlets with sewn in cups or do I have to worry about one just plopping out on the floor?

Re: bra or sewn in cups

  • I'm a bit bigger on the top than you, but i also have a strapless dress and am doing the cups and no bra.  If your dress is corset top, they'll work fabulous even if you want to do some "layering" and add some more cutlets. :) They're actually quite comfortable and i'm excited about it!  The cups add a bit on the bottom to "boost you up" so i'm sure they'll look great.  When you go in for your alterations- try them on and see how you like it.  You can always go with the bra- but try it for sure! :)
  • oh!  If you do decide to do the cups and add cutlets- i'd make sure that you chose fabric cutlets as opposed to the plastic air filled ones.  Sweating skin (sorry to be blunt) on plastic begs for being REALLY uncomfortable.
  • I bought the inserts from VS...I actually didn't even take them out and look at them yet lol. I just figured if I dont like/use them , I'll return them.
My dress is a corset. I guess I am just weirded out because I hate the feeling of not wearing a bra. I guess i am used to being worried about things just sliding down my chest and then WHABAM! Little boobies for all to see! hahahaha

  • I recommend sew-in cups because they are convenient, your bra will never show, you won't be hiking it up.

You can get cups that have a bit of extra padding in the bottom, or get insertable ones.  They likelihood of them falling on the floor is remote but personally I would prefer them to be attached to the dress in some way so they don't shift around.
  • I'm also a 34B and when I went for the first fitting I told them i wanted sewn in cups and I tried one set of cups and the alteration lady asked me to double up the cups to see how it would look and having double the cups helped to boost up my chest without making me look bigger than i am on top.

My dress is also a strapless sweatheart top.
  • Even two sets of cups will be good. My seamstress at Bridal Bells in Berlin, CT sewed two pairs for me last summer in a bridesmaid dress and it looked great. Also it was a lot cheaper than the VS stuff.
  • Also a 34B and had cups sewn into my corset back dress. The cups had some extra padding so that gave me a decent boost. It was extremely comfortable and I'd definitely recommend it!

  • Thanks guys! I will try them both when I go to my fitting and hopefully I will like them and I can return the stuff from VS and have the 120 put back on my credit card :O) I like the idea of the double cups :O)

  • I am a 36 D - does anyone know the best route for larger sizes? I am worried that I shouldn't even look at strapless styles because I won't get the support I need.
  • I'm a 38DD and the sewn in cups work great on my corset dress. I'm not sure how itd work with a zip up dress though. I like them and am excited to to be hiking up a bra all night.
