Morristown: Wedding pictures at the green or Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Nov

Hi Ladies,

My wedding is a month away on Nov. 5th and will be at the Hyatt in Morristown. We are trying to decide where to take pictures before the wedding and have narrowed it down to either the Frelinghuysen Arboretum or the green. Some will be taken at the Hyatt but it would be nice to get some outdoor shots. At first I thought definitely the arboretum but now I am wondering if it is worth it given that it will be in Nov and may not be that pretty if trees are bare? (fyi: the arboretum fee is $175 and the Hyatt would provide a shuttle there). I'd love your help, i live in Florida and it is hard planning from a distance. Thanks!!!

Hey there.  I live in the area and actually drive around the green a lot!  I think the Arboretum would be really beautiful... I question if there would be enough foliage on the green in November to give you really good shots.  Also, the green is always crowded with cars going by.  I say go with the Arboretum.  In the end that $175 fee will last you a lifetime in awesome pics!

I live right in morristown and we are getting married at the church on the green and plan to do pictures on the green too.  I actually didnt even think of the arboretum, but that is a great option and a I agree will be worth the money. I am actually going to look into that myself!

I had a permit to take pics at both the Arboretum  and FDU. We opted for FDU especially since it is way less spaced out and since it rained on our wedding day, FDU has a lot more paved areas and stone vs dirt so it wasnt bad to walk around, were I thought wed get muddy at the Arboretum. Id be happy to email you a link to our pics- they came out beautiful! Best part is the permit at FDU is free- they let u take pics as long as there is no wedding/event there that day

I live in Morristown right down the street from the green. It would be a great place to take photos. Plus, there are a lot of cool backdrops nearby, like the old churches and the train station. All are walkable. Loantaka is right down the road and the arboretum is cool too. You've got a lot of choices!

I don't know Morristown very well and am not sure where things are in relation to each other, but I follow my photographer's facebook page.  His most recent post was of a wedding he shot at the Governor Morris Westin in Morristown and they did their first look and portraits at the Acorn House, what he said was right next door to the hotel.

Here's a link to the slideshow of images he posted:  http://photos.robertwaynephotography.com/p391186223/slideshow

Scroll ahead to the first look and portraits.  It looks like a beautiful setting and would probably be so whether there are leaves on the trees or not.
