Where can I find a designer knock-off?

I have fallen completely in love with this Oscar de la Renta gown I saw in a magazine photoshoot, and I would love to find something like it for my wedding, since it is way out of my price range...

ONE SHOULDER SHIBORI RUFFLE GOWN
TIE DYED ORGANZA GOWN WITH RUFFLE SKIRT AND ASYMMETRICAL HEMLINE

Has anyone seen a dress in this style, or have any ideas on where I can begin looking?  I especially love the skirt!  Any help would be extremely appreciated. :)

Thank you!

  • The link does not show the dress.
  • I would start checking out  checking out lines that have destination dresses. The feel of that one is def light and airy, which is going to be found more in a destination line. The Dessy Group, Winnie Couture, Alfred Angelo's Niki White collection appears to be desitnation-esque.

I would not feel comfortable asking someone to make a knock off of that b/c the skirt is detailed that I think to find someone who would be able to do that and do an excellent job of it, it would be hard to find and probably end up being super expensive. Also with a dress like that, it doesn't look good on everyone so I would personally want to try one on like it before having one made.

Not mention, even though I can't afford high-fashion designer brands, I'm not a advocate for buying knock-off designer items. I have a good friend who designs wedding gowns and has her own line in NYC and I see how how she has worked to get where she is. Her dresses were out of my budget (even with a friend discount) but I would never ask someone to knock off one of her dresses for me. Plus if you get one one pre-made as a knock off from somewhere you never know if children in sweat shops are making them or if the shipping of the items are being used as vessels for drugs being sent over seas.

I know, a little too "deep" for the Knottie boards but I had to vent about that as well! I'm sure if you keep looking around you'll find one similar to it that you love!
