For the couples who would like to bring their Pets to Hawaii

We are having our dog, brought over to Hawaii for our wedding since she's such a  big part of our family. I wanted to share the info I found on how to bring your domesticated pet to hawaii, Via Hawaiian Airlines.

Re: For the couples who would like to bring their Pets to Hawaii

  • To each their own, but I wouldn't put my pet through the horrors of air travel just to attend my wedding.  I'd prefer to know that they are safely at home (or a kennel, whichever).

  • I think Tanq brought her dog with them. Search the site as there have been previous posts on this subject.
  • Wow, my heart just lept at the prospect of bringing my puppy with me.  I absolutely love her, and would love for her to be part of my wedding.  (I had written off the idea long ago.)  It's too late for me to make it happen, but I totally understand why you would want to.  Good for you for prioritizing your pet and making it happen.
  • My photographer is getting married on Maui next month and they decided to bring their dog and it cost nearly $1000. I thought about bringing our dog but she has separation anxiety as it is, so I knew putting her through all that stress would make her extremely anxious. I remember Tanq's post about taking along their dog and she mentioned you definitely have to take into account where the dog will stay/what (s)he will do while you are on the island...

  • We always travel with our dog, and usually costs $50 each way.  Nakita (little weiner dog) just fits under the seat in front and loves it.  Ufortunately we decided not to bring her on this trip, we figured we would be to busy to watch her.

  • Little - You would be.  People should not underestimate how busy you will be when you are on island for your wedding.  We are going back to Maui in July because we feel that we didn't have any down time at all when we were there getting  married last summer.  You don't really expect it, but you are going to be really, really busy when you are there.
I love my dogs like they are our kids and would have loved to have them with us, but we wouldn't have had any time to care for them and even though the flight from AK to HI is pretty painless (5 hours) I wouldn't want to have to worry about my dogs in addition to the dress and all the other goodies you will be transporting.
