Tuxes

Morning!  I  know we talked about tuxes a few weeks ago and I had vented some frustration with Mens Warehouse and their pushy-ness...and how they wouldn't let us try on anything and were VERY expensive...well I am HAPPY to relay that we went to our local Tux shop (Karls Tuxedo) and was able to try everything on....the salesman was not pushy and we ended up ordering his tux for total rental of $89.00........I was so surprised!  This tux was comparable to the 189.00 tux at Mens Warehouse...so we were very pleased....good to have this one checked off!

Re: Tuxes

  • I had a similar experience.  We went to Men's Warehouse on Friday night to pick out suits.  We didn't plan to shop anywhere else, but I didn't like the shade of navy they had, so we decided to look around.  After checking Kohls, Macy's and finally JCPenny we ended up with a suit combination we loved, (it's acutally blue blazers and khakis).  FI was able to get his coat, pants and shirt for $110.  Very nice compared to the $210 we were considering at Men's Warehouse.

  • WOW! that is an amazing price...

I hate pushy sales people... I understand working on commision or even just wanting to get a good sale... but I prefer the wholesomeness of local's as well that understand that this is YOUR special day... and if they want a good deal they should treat you as an individual not a number

so glad you found a good deal :D
  • I am not a fan of Mens Warehouse at all. We ended up going with a much smaller chain. We went to Mens Warehouse and asked if we should see a few tuxedos and see the prices of the rentals. Well the guy said "Go to menswarehouse.com" I said that they don't have prices online, I don't want my groomsmen to be ripped of that is why I wanted to see the actual prices of the tuxedos. He said again Go to menswarehouse.com  and you can see everything. He said this very rudely, he then looked at my fiance and said "We are having a big sale today, buy one get one. You should get some appropriate clothes for your wardrobe." That is when I just left without saying a word. My fiance was dressed in khaki shorts, a plain black shirt and flip flops, what is is supposed to wear a suit to go look at tuxedos?

  • I know!  I was shocked by Men's Warehouse!  I thought we would go in there and get it sorted out right away.  I couldn't believe the tux we liked was going to be $210.....and that included the "$40 off" coupon that I had.  Ridiculous!  I'm so glad that someone on here recommended to look for local places because, we too are going through a local place and pretty much the same tux will be $129 each!  Plus I hate supporting big corporations!  Yay!

  • Wow. That's crazy. Our local men's warehouse was really helpful! FI tried everything on and got fitted. They sat down and explained everything to us. The guys are paying $160 each for everything including tax. Our local place said it would be at least $205 for the tux we wanted.

  • Our local Men's Warehouse badmouthed the Men's Warehouse in the next town over. I thought it was really unprofessional. We ended up going to the other MW because they had a much bigger selection, and they were really nice and helpful, but a bit pushy. We didn't mind, though, since we were just happy to get the tuxes out of the way.

The men's wearhouse we went to was also great.  The guy who helped us was very nice and not at all pushy.  We found tuxes we liked for a little over $100.

  • The men's warehouse and tux we went to was really good, although a nearby regular men's warehouse stunk. We went to two other places and had no luck. Our tuxes are just under 200 w the coupon. We went with the vera Wang, but our choices were very limited because FI wanted a black notch collar tux with a vented back. You'd think that would be easy but so many places didn't have that. The venting was a must since he has a bubble butt. Haha.
  • I'm glad others had a better experience with them than us!  I know OC is expensive, but I thought that was crazy expensive.  We liked the Vera Wang (not because of the brand name) so those were $209 after the coupon!  There were only 9 option to choose from, and they wouldn't let FI try on anything.  At least Friars offered. They were also really pushy.

Our local place had him try everything on, including both his tie/vest and the GMs so I could see.  They were super helpful!
