Committment-phobic to my colors!!

Hi All!
I have been seraching around the Knot for a few months now to get ideas and suggestions for various wedding related topics, but i have never used the Chat Boards. So I wanted to say hello and I am very excited to start communicating with you all!!
I am having my wedding at the Ballroom at Church St and have always wanted my main color to be a Deep Purple. I thought I would accent with Ivory and Black as well. However, I am doubting my choice becuase of all the reds, golds, and browns in the Ballroom. I would love to stick with the main color as purple, but wondering if there is a better accent color combo or if I should give up on the purple. The wedding is in Nov, so I would want to utilize Fall colors. NO PASTELS!
Help!?!!?!?!?!
and thanks!

    Hi & Welcome!
I think that you can definitely do a dark purple color with the reds and golds. I don't know if I would use the purple as the main color, but more of the "pop" or accent. If you try to incorporate them together I think it will look really rich and very fall-ish. I personally would rather use a dark brown instead of black. I think it is a softer color and would compliment your other colors better.
    Good luck!

Do you have the budget for  good lighting?  If so, stick to exactly what you want.  Lighting can be expensive but it could really make that ballroom gorgeous and in exactly the colors you want.  You'd have to get enough lights to get a soft purple glow around the entire room and then the colors in the room would fade away.

If you don't have the budget for lighting, I think you could do purple maybe with gold accents and ivory.  Ivory is pretty neutral so it won't be bothersome and purple goes fairly well with red.

Welcome!! I think purple would go just fine with the other colors, but I also agree with Theresa in this... if you could do lighting, do so! Our wedding colors did not match the ballroom AT ALL, but we had lighting and you couldn't even tell.

I'm using purple as well :). What about a yellow? I'm using the yellow sunflowers are as my accent color. Maybe that could work for you? HTH! Good luck!

Gold could be a good accent colour with purple, esp. for autumn. Ivory/gold/brown could all be good secondary colours and not clash with the ballroom, come to think of it, but lighting is a good option, too.

I agree with the pp, that purple with gold would be beautiful.  I think that I would stay away from black...as it is, there are a bunch of colors.  Purple does seem to fit in with the look and style.  Good luck!

Honestly, I went to a wedding there recently, and the main color was almost an eggplant purple, and i thought everything was really beautiful. I think if you just amke sure that you're not trying to overpower the existing colors, but rather, complment them, it will look great. :)

I'm biased b/c I am using royal purple, so I love it! Purple and black are super classy :)

I'm glad you think purple and black are classy!  :)  I'm using purple and blue with black and white, sounds like a lot but it works. I agree with gold and purple. That would look amazing!

I think purple and gold would look nice.  My colors are eggplant, silver and gold.
