I really need to start toning

I am an Oct 2012 bride and I've lost about 30 lbs since last Feb.   My goal now is to start toning.  My main workout has been mostly cardio and a little bit of strength training.  I know i need to step up my weight lifting, but do I need to cut back on the cardio?  My diet is good but I am afraid if I cut back on the cardio the weight will come back on.  Any suggestions?

  • I still do cardio followed by a 20 min toning every other day, keep cardio just tone everyother day for 20 min

  • Static training is a really great way to combine both. I used to take a boxing class, and we would start by jumping rope for 5 miinutes. and then 25 minutes of static. I wish I could still afford and have time for the class, because my legs looked the best they had in my whole life.
    Recently I do the P90x videos at home which incorporate both. The last couple weeks I've done two cardio sessions and one strength session per week or more, and I've honestly noticed a great difference. Yesterday I even put on my "skinny" jeans from 2 years ago, and they fit.....a little snug, but they fit. I really like the Legs/Back video. Depending on your "trouble areas". You will just need a band if you don't have weights, which I prefer. Good luck!! And congrats on the progress!
  • I do the Jillian Michael's videos, it's circuit training - so cardio mixed with strength moves. It's toned me up quite a bit (and quickly). I also find hot yoga tones up my arms quick
