Wedding Invitations & Paper

Question about postage?

Im pretty darn bummed. Im hoping I get the response Im looking for haha. So I ordered some cute 45 cent postage stamps from zazzle and didn't think about how postage might cost more. AHHHHHH!

My invites are small DIY and only sending out invite, rsvp, and rsvp envelope. There is a small ribbon but I will leave it out if I have to.

How much did your invites cost to send out? I am really set on using those stamps I ordered =(

Re: Question about postage?

  • Our invitations cost 65 cents to mail out, we purchased cute wedding stamps that covered 45 cents and then added a 20 cent stamp. We did find out that the post office does make a 65 cent wedding stamp so I was pretty bummed about that but we didn't have much choice but to just add the other stamp on. I would just do to the post office and get it weighed and if you have to add more postage just use what you already have and add the extra.
  • Assemble one invite and bring it to the PO to be weighed. This will help you determine how much it will cost

Just to give you an idea, I have a regular sized invitation, inner and outer envelopes, and rsvp card and envelope, and it is 65 cents by .1 of an ounce.  You might be okay with your 45 cent stamps, but definitely check with the post office first, since it's going to depend on the weight of the paper, etc.
  • Put one together and take it to the post office to be weighed.  Better safe than sorry.

Don't print anything on the stamps until you are sure.  If you can't use them, you can probably sell them on eBay or Craigslist.
  • Yes put them together and have them weighed... the ribbon may cause a bump though which would cause an additional charge.

my friend had simple DIY invites that were a 2 layer card, rsvp, and rsvp envelope and it was only 45 cents postage, so you will hopefully be ok.
  • Mine were only 45 cents. I had invitation, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, and a 1/4 size sheet with our website info. Only outer envelope. Your invitations are pretty, OP! I had briefly looked at those, but FI nixed anything floral.
  • Mine are 65 cents for the invite envelopes and we are putting 45 cent stamps on the rsvp envelopes.

  • I assembled an invitation and put everyhint in the envelope and its pretty light. I compared to weight of an ordinary halmark card it the halmark card was heavier. Im still gonna go to the PO.

    Thanks Ladies!!
