Bumpie coming over to ask a question re: shower gift

Hi girls,
I'm bouncing over here to just ask a quick question and get some feedback. A good friend of mine is getting married in June and I just finished designing her invites for her.
I can't make it to her shower b/c it's the same day as LO's baptism and I was trying to think of a nice gift to send down in my place.
So this morning I was thinking that maybe it would be nice to design matching thank you cards for her, since she loved the invites so much and make it a surprise and then just buy some yankee candles and make a little basket.
Do you think that is too forward?
I've known this girl for a long time and she is pretty laid back, but I just wanted to see what some other brides to be had to say about it.
TIA

My brother's fiance who does invitations usually does this for showers she is involved in, it's a great gift!

My husband is a graphic designer and he did our invites and I had him do matching thank you notes. They were NOT wedding specific but they were the same color/font/design as our invties so we can still use them for pretty much anything but I think matching notess would be nice!

Sounds like a nice gift, but you might want to ask her if she's already purchased some.  I know I bought my Thank You notes ahead of time so I can be prepared to send out right after the shower.

    I think that's a good idea.

Instead of a candle, maybe you could package the TY notes with a book or two of stamps. And maybe a cute pen?

Make them not wedding specific, that way, in case she already bought some, she can use them for something else.
