Tux question.

For those of you that have ordered your tuxes (or married already) How much were your tuxesif you don't mind sharing and where did you get them from?

We have ours set up from Al's formal wear because we had free rental plus $ off of everyone's rental and they ended up at about 118. Now I'm hearing that some people can't afford that...but I don't know of any cheaper options. (Tuxedo Junction would probably be cheaper, but when I was doing debutante stuff that's who we had to use and they had a REALLY hard time fitting my Dad. Which is why I'm not going back)

I have offered to pay for up to half of each tuxedo. Which makes it $59.00 for them.

Am I being reasonable?

More than reasonable, I think.  I don't remember offhand what ours were, but we went with a pretty simple tux, and then paid for a few "upgrades" to things like Andy's shoes.  His tux and (I think) my dad's tux ended up being free because we ordered so many of them.

ETA: Andy says the tuxes came out to just around $110.

<div>This makes me feel better that they are probably about average priced. </div>

  • I think ours (through Mens Wearhouse) were about that too.  Bill's was free because we had so many too (although I don't think 5+Bill) is all that many.  We did go with a slightly nicer tux though so it may have been a little more.
  • Also, we used Al's.  I should have mentioned that.

  • We used Tuxedo Junction and they were $98 a piece.  I think paying for half is definitely more than reasonable.
  • Ours were about $85... 3 years ago...around $100 is totally standard
  • I think ours are around $85 from mens wearhouse but we got them during a special. So yes paying for half is well more than reasonable!

  • We had the guys buy suits from Tuxedo Junction for $100/each... which is the same price as the tux rentals.  I think you're being too nice!  :)
  • I can't remember exactly how much our tux rentals were. I think they were around $100-110ish. We got ours at the Bridal Co in Denton.

  • Ours were $150 each from Men's Wearhouse.  Since the GM was Ben's brother, and the only other ones were for Ben, his dad and the best man, his parents just paid for all of them.  Which was nice since Ben refused to buy them gifts.

I think your price is reasonable as well as your offer to pay half.

  • We paid for all tuxes, but that's cause we knew how much each GM was paying for travel. I think ours came to $119/tux from Tuxedo Junction. Ed's was free

Do you remember what the special was and about when they ran it?  I'm looking at either Al's or Men's Wearhouse since they're the closest to our venue and we're only needing them for our boys and don't want the nanny to have to drive all over to pick them up or return them.  They have a $40 off coupon right now, but seems like you might have gotten a better deal.  Of course, we only need 3 so I know that knocks some of the discounts out.

  • Ours were around $100 from Mens Warehouse, they allowed us to make shoe rental optional. I think the base price without tax was about $89. I think it is more than reasonable to cover half of the price! I did haggle with them a bit based on quotes I'd received from Tuxedo Junction.
  • I'm pretty sure ours were more expensive than that ... I want to say $139 from Jos A Bank.

They also had to pay to fly in, since none of our BP was local. Mine would've loved to only pay $59 for the wedding :)
  • Ours are 140 and he was in a wedding in July that wasy 160

  • Wow, I'm totally feeling bad now. I think our's came out to $180. FI is getting his for free. He had asked if he could spread the discount out and was told no. Maybe we'll just offer to pay for a bit of each instead... For those of you paying half, are you just reimbursing the guys, or paying the store directly?

    Paying the store. <div>
</div><div>Now, I'm not paying half because I want to. (i'd rather not) but for the ones who said they couldn't afford it I told them I would pay half. Thank goodness I heard from the other two last night and they didn't even ask anything but "Where and when?"</div>

  • Ben has been in a lot of weddings before.  He says that it's reasonable to pay around $100 for a rental fee and he complained horribly when my brother's was $185.
  • We are using Men's Warehouse.  The often have buy 1 get 1 if you go through the purchase route.  In our case we went to a bridal show, and they gave us a special offer on one of their business cards, so my fiance's tux is free and all the others run about 140.00.  It's not unreasonable.  I don't think that you should have to offer to pay for half, you are already paying for the entire wedding.
