Florist hasn't sent quote yet

I met with 2 florists on 12/9.  One gave me a quote on the spot.  The other said she would email it, it would be "after next weekend", which would have been the weekend of 17-18th.  I met with another florist on 12/15 and she emailed me the quote in 2 days.  
Should I give up on the other one?  Or when should I start bugging her for the quote?  I feel like I need to get back with the other 2 soon in case they get booked!

Another florist question - 1 of the florists mentioned that I get to come in the day before to review everything.  The other 2 did not mention that.  Do your florists offer this? Is it normal?

  • I wouldn't give up on the other florist yet-it's a crazy time of year. I met with one florist before Thanksgiving and it took her more than two weeks to send a quote (which she did warn me about).

    I would call her for a follow, saying you understand it's a busy time of year and just wanted to see when you can expect the quote. I would personally only give up if you don't receive it by the first week of January.

    Also call the other florists you spoke to, thank them for the quote, and let them know that because of the holidays, you probably won't have a decision until after jan 1st. Ask them if they could give you the courtesy of letting you know if they get any other inquiries about your date (which is what I did for the 3 florists I spoke to).

    As for the day before review-that has not been mentioned to me, but I would ask the other 2 florists if that is an option (if you want it to be an option). I doubt I would have the time to worry about it personally, but it is a nice bonus. I have asked all the florists to do a mock up of the centerpiece for me ahead of time, which most places are willing to do for free (unless you are using blooms they don't normally have in stock).

  • Ugh. I met with two florists and two bakers one weekend. All said they would get with me "Monday or Tuesday". NONE of them did. NONE!

    I called one florist back and they gave me an absolutely ridiculous quote. I called one baker back and gave me a ridiculous quote. I didn't even bother the other baker because they didn't seem like they cared when I was there, obviously didn't care enough to call me, so I doubt they'll care if they make my cake. I won't give them by business. The other florist has the weirdest hours I haven't made it to call them. I don't know if I will or not.

     I would call the one that you haven't heard from as a follow up.  I know it is a busy time of year for florists but you do want to get booked before January.



    As for the reviewing, I think it depends on florists. I talked to one that didn't have the option to review, but I chose one who does give me that option because I want to make sure that my florist and I are on the right page.

  • I feel like they are a running a business and should be on top of everything--communicating with their clients, especially when they say they will.  If they truly care about the business and are serious about servicing you, then they will do what they have to do.  If they can't even keep their words now, what about when it's your wedding day?  If they're truly too busy to send you a quote, they should at least update you that they've been busy and will get back to you.

    Okay. Since you are in Columbus, I am assuming you are talking about Flowers on High.
    That is who I booked with. I was totally impressed and would recommend her to all Columbus Knotties. She is the best price I found and the most personable.
    I would want to see the work before the day of to make sure I love it and it meets expectations. It's kind of a big deal. Just saying.


    I still haven't heard from a place called POSI. I was completely bummed.

    I agree with this. Don't say you will get back to someone if you know you are too busy.

    I would drop anyone who doesn't keep their word. That is big in my book.

    Take my opinion with a grain of salt. I was looking at vacation homes for our honeymoon, and all the listings that didn't have important details on their website were crossed off my list. If they don't put in the effort, I don't either. :)

  • I talked to 3 florists, and I know 2 of them offered to let me come in the day before to make sure the flowers were coming together the way I wanted.  Can't remember if the 3rd offered that.  All three also offered to do a mock up of the arrangements.

    <div>Yep. It was Flowers on High.  Expressions floral design has not sent the quote yet.  Flowers on Springtree Lane is coming in less expensive than Flowers on High, but there are pros and cons for each.  I wanted to compare the 3 side by side!</div>
