I was feeling pretty de-motivational, but I just finished doing my hair, and I must say it looks fantastic! That plus some new earrings has me at the very least feeling good!! Plus while I was curling my hair this morning I watched an episode of Rookie Blue and that TOTALLY makes me want to rough up some criminals!! haha..

I finished 2 Stephanie Plum books over the weekend (on book 11 now) and I keep craving Cheese Doodles and birthday cake and cupcakes and pineapple upside down cake... and I want to lose weight!  So I need motivation to stop eating crap.  This weekend I pulled a Stephanie Plum and went and got a birthday cake... only I like my birthday cakes made of ice cream, so I bought a Carvel cake.  It was only a little bitty one, and FI did have about a quarter... but over the course of 3-4 days, I ate the rest of it.  I feel like a boat.  Stephanie Plum is a bad influence!

A good hairstyle/cut can make all the difference in your mojo.  I finally got a bad cut hacked off this weekend, and while she did shorten it a bit to fix it, she promises that we can make it grow out to shoulder length (or close enough) in time for the wedding!  But man oh man, it feels good to have the hair off the back of my neck again.  I don't know how I'll make it through that awkward in-between stage before I can get it in a ponytail because I HATE having hair touch my neck.  I told FI that as soon as we get married, I'm hacking it all off again into a very short pixie cut.

I'm feeling pretty monday like. Didn't want to get out of bed... but knowing I am going to sneak away for a bit to go ride some horses... makes my dayyyy! Match that with some good tunes, and coffee and I'm a happy camper.

Duo, I hear ya on the gym! Yesterday was kliller for me--football and US Open tennis kept me walking on the treadmill for an hour!! But usually, I call it good if I do something. I always tell myself 10 pushups during a commercial break is better than nothing at all. And YAY mailing invites!! I remember how huge that felt!!! Then the mailbox stalking begins!

Yay for mailing invitations! That's such a fun step in the wedding process! Until you stop getting RSVPs... then you want to hurt people... >_<

I need gym moto as well. I mean.. I'll go.. but I used to be addicted and I want that addiction back. Fi is the stress eater and boy that man loves his chocolate.. baaad news for me. haha!

Iriiiish!!! I am soooooo excited to see your freaking wedding picturesssss!! I'm thankful that we still have two weeks honestly.. I'm not ready to deal with Fi's family... They have been such a PITA through this process. Fi's aunt called yesterday to ask 815073298273095 questions and one of them was, "Are you guys even excited? I mean.. Why would you be when you already live together?"
RUDE. She is lucky she didn't ask ME that, because I would have gone off. I have no patience for people at this point.

The only moto I have is to tie loose ends for the wedding. I start classes back up next week and I don't want to be stressed about wedding stuff my first week of classes... *sigh*

Someone's got a case of the Mondays....... :]

Ummm, yeah, I could use some motivation! I have something in the works that could potentially lead to an exciting career opportunity for me, but I have to create a full course proposal before I can move forward, and it's not something I've ever done before, so I'm dragging my feet. Motivate me!

Right now, the only motivation I have to get through this day is that I get to see FI once it's all over! He's home on leave for a week, and I love actually getting to see him every day. Now if only I could find the motivation to study for the millions of school things coming up...

HAPPY WEDDING WEEK!!!! Yeah that week was so much fun for me.  Yeah I know...but it really was.  Just enjoy every second as it goes by so fast.

Dealing with my mother during that week I would just say "Yes mother", took a breath, huged her,  walked away and just did what I wanted to anyway.  I worked like a charm!!!

I need to get movtivated to run seeing how I have a race in four weeks and I basically just took the entire months of July and August off.

I need motivation for homework.  I had a month off between semesters and now my last semester I am taking two classes at the same time for 7 weeks and they are two of the toughest classes.  I just need to be strict with my time and stop thinking about wedding stuff for a while.  It is my last semester and that is the only thing even remotely motivating me to do my homework.  Then I can focus on wedding details!

On a better note, I have been trying to change my daily routine to make better decisions.  So I've been packing healthier lunches, trying to wake up early to get to work a little earlier, etc.  Just little things.  I've been really good at the eating healthier, but waking up in the morning is such a struggle for me.

Irish! Happy Wedding Week! Hope all goes well!

I need motivation, or someone to tell me that crate training and housebreaking (from what everyone's told me, these two things go together) a dog can get better. We were about 60% on housebreaking without a crate and letting him sleep with us, but, even though he can get off the bed by himself, he would pee in the bed (yeaaah) about once every two nights. Breaking point came when he actually peed on FI while FI was sleeping. So we got a crate yesterday and did our first night of him in the crate last night. He cried/howled til almost 3 a.m. (I'm sure our neighbors love us) and started up again around 5 (love). I haven't ever crate-trained before, all of our dogs have been big, and the last time I had a puppy I was 12. It's making me a bit nuts because I want him to be happy and healthy and also pee and poop outside. Any advice is welcome.

I'm also a bit sad because the Air Force ball that FI told me was in mid-August, so I though we'd missed it because he was TDY (I think that's the abbreviation), is actually this weekend, and I don't have anything to wear and I really hate for us to spend money on a dress right now, especially when we don't really have it to spend on that. I'm okay with him going without me, I just hate to miss it, especially when a large part of our expenditures this month was him buying his mess dress to wear to the ball and having to drive an hour away to get it.

Divine - How old is your dog?

Crate training will definitely get better.  I had the same issue with my little guy.  He was mostly potty trained, but if we were asleep or away from home or otherwise unable to take him outside, he would pee on the floor.

We didn't start trying to crate train him until he was about 18 months old, and it was miserable at first, like you said.  It didn't take long, though, for him to start genuinely liking his crate.  Now, even if we don't shut him in there, that's where he chooses to sleep.  He'll snuggle in bed with me for a little while, but once he's ready to sleep he goes straight to his kennel.  And I can just say "Sawyer, bedtime!" any time I'm leaving the house and he goes straight to the crate.  It's pretty cute, actually.

Do whatever you can to make sure your dog's time in his crate is pleasant and positive.  Leave treats in there for him to find, or buy him a new toy (if he's a toy addict like my dog) and, instead of showing it to him, hide it in the crate and let him discover it himself.  Don't use the crate as punishment when he's bad, tempting as it may be.  And start with really short times in the crate at first (like 15 minutes) during the day while you're at home and stay in the room with him and slowly build up from there.

    Hope all that helps.

Thanks Elle. He's about 9 weeks now, so really little. We've put his towel and blanket in there, but the toy idea is really great. I'm trying to remind FI that we don't want to make that the punishment zone, he's never had a puppy before, so it's like I'm trying to tell him what to do while also training the dog. :)

I know how you feel lol
I went through this exact same thing a little over a year ago

The best thing that worked for me was always taking him outside every hour or so when I was home and if he went to the bathroom he got a treat right then while we were still outside, I always picked his favorite treats. He learned within 2 days that if he goes outside and goes to the bathroom hes gets a treat and praise. I tried everything and that was the only thing that worked.

And for the first week he howled every night in his crate for hours. I thought I was going to reach my breaking point. But now every night I take his favorite toy downstairs along with a carrot (the big ones, he doesn't like dog treats but I'm sure if he did it would work the same) and tell him it's bedtime. Now he runs downstairs all hyper everytime he sees a carrot and is excited to go to bed. It just took him a while to get comfortable being in his crate and knowing hes not in there for punishment but for sleep.

It's frustrating and it sucks but it does get better. Once your dog gets in a routine things will be a lot more enjoyable.

    I'm so unmotivated in everything.

School I am taking only 2 classes and they are both capstones so I feel really odd wheneveeryone else is freaking out about exams and I am just sitting around emailing photographers...

Also, the career fair is coming up in a few days... everyone I know is getting their resumes ready to go... blah blah blah... But I am thinking.. why the heck would I waste my time. I will not be in this state after I am married, why bother looking for a job for 2 months? Ugh?!?! How the HECK do I find an entry level job on the other side of the country?

But for now I have my "internship" which has turned into a part time job. Which would be fantastical if they offered me full time....

    @ Divine:

Just keep it up, it will pay off in time! Some tips: make sure the crate is big enough that he can move around in it comfortably. It's supposed to sort of mimic a den for them, like dogs of the wild used to use before we domesticated them all : ) Also, remember that, depending on the breed, many dogs don't gain full control of their "Oh man, I gotta go" reflex until about 11 weeks of age. So, he may not have full control of 1. knowing when he has to go, and 2. holding it until it's appropriate for him to go.

Something else that you can do if he really doesn't take to the crate and still keeps you up all night, is to get a baby gate and confine him to a larger area. The kitchen works great because it's not as tough to clean up accidents, and he has lots of room that he wouldn't have in a crate. That's what I do with my dog, and it works out great at night and when I'm in class during the day. GL! : )

. . . . MY motivaton this week is that I have 4 veterinary exams, and my first Spay/Neuter Surgery lab this week! : )  Exciting, but terrifying HaHa. It's a lot of stuff crammed into one week.

BUT, if I survive the week, my fiance is flying in on Friday to spend about 10 days with me!! <3  I haven't seen him in about 2 months, so it'll be the BEST way ever to end one crazy hellacious week.
