NWR: Freaking Out Right Now

PA releases the bar exam results today.

I don't think I have ever been so nervous in my life!

Plus, everyone in my firm knows they are coming out today (thanks to the other associate who is waiting for his results!)  so now there is even more pressure!

Which leads to the next thing I'm worried about...what if one of us passes and the other doesn't??  What an ackward situation!

I've been checking the website very 20-30 minutes since I got in this morning.  I wish they'd just get it over with already!!

Are they still releasing them at 4:00?  While waiting for my Pennsylvania results, I spent the entire day on TK but was still so nervous that I made DH check the results for me when he got home from work.  Ohio is merciful in that they post at 6:30 a.m. (It's bar exam, however, is one of the toughest and a biiitch to take much less pass).

Your firm would have known when results come out even without the other associate saying anything.  It's public record.

As for one passing and the other not, it happens.  Unless your job is conditional on you passing the bar don't worry about it.  I missed passing Ohio's exam by 1.25 points.  Killed it when I retook it.

There's really nothing you can do unless you go home and take a heavy sleep aid.  Your office could catch fire and you are going to be running through the elements of arson and wondering about the crim law essay question because there is no way to think about anything else today.

  • The pass rate in PA is 85 percent for first time test takers. Considering you are both already employed, which tells me you are at least reasonably skilled, the strong odds are that you AND other dude both passed.

True but being told "I'm sure you passed" doesn't make anyone feel better.  I knew the odds were in my favor having practiced for 4 1/2 years before taking PA's exam (which is relatively easy) and I was still a wreck.

Same thing with the NCLEX. Waiting for those results was horrible because I had already gotten a job and my continuing employment was dependent on my passing boards.

    Also with the CPA exam!!!
People in our office have learned to keep quiet when they test and only reveal once they pass.

OP - This may sound dumb, but NASBA (the organization that puts on the CPA exam) had a twitter feed that was constantly updated, so I knew EXACTLY when my scores would be posted, due to some all-day refresh sessions on Twitter.
    Worth checking out?

Wouldn't matter.  Bar results are promptly posted online at the designated time.

  • Thanks everyone!  I appreciate the support!

Everyone keeps saying "I'm sure you passed." but unfortunately, that is not a guarantee and it doesn't do anything to set my mind at ease.

Less than three hours until they are posted....hopefully the time goes fast!!

Oh, so there's a preset time? The window for CPA scores is one month.
I would see a Twitter feed that said 'NASBA has released Audit scores to the states' and I knew I would get that score the next morning at 4am.
I had to do that 4 times for the 4 tests.

So interesting how they're all so different.
  • Fingers crossed!  FI and I took the professional engineering examination together.  Thankfully we both passed, but we know a couple where one passed and the other didn't.  That would be the worst.

It's nice that you know when they'll be released.  I compulsively checked the NCEES (pe exam administrator) website multiple times a day once we were in the window of time it took the results to be released (6-8 weeks).
  • They say after 4 p.m. today.  However, they are notorious for releasing earlier than the scheduled time.  My guess is to control some of the traffic on the website.

Since I know it's a possibility they might release earlier, I've been checking all day.  Looks like this year they are waiting until the actual posted time though.

Twenty more minutes! My stomach is in knots!  (no pun intended Smile)

And if it's not good, come cry on my shoulder.  I've been there.

  • I was so nervous when I got my results!  I had to kick a 12 year old off the computer in my apartment complex (playing a game) hehe.  Mean old me.

Then I was so nervous I typed my name wrong and it said "Name not found" and I panicked, reaslized I left off a letter, tried again, and saw "Name on Pass List" or whatever they say.

2 of my really good friends didn't pass and are amazing attorneys today (4 plus years later) with zero issues so don't worry if you don't pass - you will be fine!
